Bridge Crossing.

So, in my map theres a bridge and nearby is an alternate route to take to get to the other side of the bridge. Now the bridge is very small but i've tested and the unit i want to cross it can cross it fine. But I've found that if theres a nearby alternate route that isnt so squished the unit will take it instead and make the bridge seem useless. This happened before and i fixed it by making the bridge wider but in this case i dont want to make the bridge wider, it would ruin the atmosphere. So, how would i make the unit cross the bridge.

I've tried messing around with the bridge tiles which only resulted in the unit crossing it half way then turning back.

Heres the bridge.

The sword and the faith

If the AI doesn't want to go over it, it won't. A lot of units have the room to pass over terrain but don't due to pathing. There isn't a whole lot you can do about it either.

I suggest finding a means of not-visibly "Squishing" the other path, like you mentioned before. Perhaps some DTs are in order?

yeah i tried that, it just got confused. But i fixed it anyway by just messing with the bridge.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
