Though they seem a bit... chunky.

I don't think the wraiths are chunky. You might be looking at the vikings. Those are chunky.

Aside from that, just compare the SC2 wraith to the SC1 wraith (In-game and cinematic).

They look okay. They are a bit more heavy-looking than I would expect though.

The look right now matches the general style of all the other terran units and it's one of the more sleek and stealthier looking units out there, especially when compared to the vikings in that same picture.

I don't think the new design matches the idea of stealth - it's too clumsy with its huge weapon turrets on the wings and under the cockpit. In SC1, Wraiths are portrayed like this in cinematics and other art, but not in-game, which I like a lot. Though SC2 seems to be more consistent with the style of the wraith in this respect, I'd gladly trade this consistency for a more stealthy in-game look.

As for the viking, its looks match its role and style perfectly - rounded, 'fatty' shapes make it look like a reliable, versatile, adaptable war machine; they also add slight cartoonish clumsyness (not sure whether it's a good thing or not).

The wraiths look stealthy, but with the turrets on the wingtips they also look powerful which is even better.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't wanna be flying paper airplanes.

SDE, BWAPI owner, hacker.

These wraiths don't look stealthy at all. It looks like a direct combat/siege ship more than a stealth/combat ship.

I think you guys are looking at the wrong unit. The Wraiths look just like they do in SC1. The Vikings definitely look chunky.

Just here for the activity... well not really

I know what I'm looking at.
Maybe it's the angle this battle's in that makes them look odd.

Yeah, everything just looks thicker on the wraith, relative to the old sprite. If you compare it to a screenshot from an original cinematic, though, it's only the wingtip missile pods that look changed.

the wraiths are pretty hot.

I think the wraiths look fine. I think you guys should stop contrasting SC2 wraith and SC wraith and start comparing SC2 wraith with other SC2 terran units. After all, when we're playing SC2 who the hell is really going to say: "You know, this wraith is less stealthy than I remember it was in SC1, fail."

Actually, the reason why people think so is because there are huge guns attached to 'stealthy' and 'fragile' looking wings- if you care to look more closely.

The sword and the faith

I agree they look a little chunky around the weapons. Huge cylindrical cannons on thin strips of wing, and it looks a little off. Of course, this can and probably will be fixed. Look at how many models, skins, and whole units they've redone already.

🤙🏾

Yeah the wraiths are more bulky and blocky, probably the polycount or something.

Doesn't matter, this is SC2, it will be piss easy to make your own Wraith.
