SC issues with Vista

ok, I've had no problems running sc with vista. The only issue I'm having is when I try to connect to bnet, it says "can't recognize your application version, try reinstalling...etc." So I tried that, no luck. I even manually installed the patches, still nothing. My firewall is configured to allow it, I tried turning it off too, just incase. When I switch back to XP I connect instantly, no problem. I have SC running under administrator, in 256 color, in 640x480 res, and Windows XP SP2 compatability. I can't figure out anything else that would be stopping it.

Are you behind a router?

If so, forward port 6112.

Yes I am, but like I said, with XP it works just fine, I'm running XP from the same computer, and I'm on Battle.net with starcraft right now. My router is forwarded. It's a vista issue I can't figure out. Also, I would still be able to connect if 6112 wasn't forwarded, just not play games.

It's not a Vista issue, it's a you issue; SC works just fine for me.

It works just fine on XP, but not Vista, that means it is a vista issue, thank you very much.

You're stubborn beyond belief. If it works for Syphon and many others, as opposed to you, I think we can call that a you issue. If it truly was a Vista fuckup, it would effect everyone.

It can be a vista compatability error with some hardware of mine, it can be any number of terrible things. What I'm asking is what IN VISTA have I missed ,that should get it working?

Are you installing from a CD?

If so, attempt to copy the enitre C:\program files\Starcraft directory to a flash drive, then paste it into the program files directory on Vista, then generate and run this .reg file.

Yeah, although it's dead, no one's been on it in over a year and a half, other than me checking. Mostly I've been busy with my new clan.

www.scms.co.nr is the school's site

Oh_Man -- No APM in chess. Computer just outthinks the human by seeing more moves ahead and more permutations

Oh_Man -- U reckon? Kasparov waa defeated by computer decades ago

NimoStar -- If its any consolation, the human brain would still mop the floor with this bot if it wasn't limited by the mechanical interface
[05:34 pm]
NimoStar -- Well. The bot didn't come up with any new strategy. It just has superhuman micro. Hard to beat that. I reckon even the simplest dedicated chess engines are unbeatable for humans now.

Oh_Man shouted: NudeRaider did u watch the entire video? it's not one game. it's currently dominating the ladder at number 1 position. do ur research first!
Oops, caught me there, no I haven't. :( I was imagining how the game went. Sorry for that. Watching it now. brb

NudeRaider -- NimoStar
NimoStar shouted: They were not "Unprepared" that was their fifth loss in a row against the bot. The other replays are also available
that doesn't mean he was prepared. When humans come around with new strategies it often takes weeks until the pros figure out how to shut it down. Oh_Man that's certainly a way more convincing argument for micro being "too good to beat".
