Yeah, nothing like that exists for Mac. StarFire is basically a half-assed X-Tra Edit for Mac (and I say half-assed because some units are 1x1 pixel and some are 100x100 for absolutely no reason).

I was the one who uploaded StarFire to SEN the first time around. I'll see if I can dig it up and upload it again.

EDIT:
And UnKnown Edit may be your best bet for terrain, if you want to do square tiles. It's basically GUEdit for Mac, though I don't think it was ever finished.
