Corbo's right. Going back to darksnow's example, late Tuesday night is technically early Wednesday morning.

City Shocked by Cruel Murders, Wave of Blood
by Sue Sleers Scetrial

Overnight, three upstanding citizens of Gotham lost their lives to what has now erupted into a tirade of blood. In addition, a mob member was also found slaughtered in the streets. Police have only begun to investigate this shocking turn of events, but the Globe brings you exclusive interviews with eyewitnesses to give you the latest, most detailed picture of what is going on the city. Our staff writers will work around the clock to provide you with only the juiciest, most recent tidbits.

The first victim to fall last night, according to the county coroner's office, was Echo. As he was walking home from the train station, he suddenly saw a flash of something green on the ground. Elated at what he thought it was, he bent over to pick it up when he suddenly heard a strange beeping noise behind him. A scared witness, who observed the scene from her twelfth-story apartment, described the machine behind Echo as some sort of robot. It seemed to have a mind of its own, intelligently anticipating Echo's moves and moving to keep him trapped. While Echo was transfixed by the robot, two mafia began to sneak up behind him. One of them kicked him into the robot, which shocked Echo into unconsciousness with some high-voltage weapon. The other mafia then emptied the clip of his pistol into Echo's face, leaving the poor man dead in the street. Echo would remain undiscovered until the wee hours of morning.

The next murder to occur happened just a few blocks from the city center, in some of the worst slums. A young man named Dapperdan had come out of high school, elated by his perfect report card. Sadly, his rare success would be short-lived, as he would soon fall victim to the mafia's murderous ministrations. He was nearing his apartment when out of an alleyway stepped a mafia brandishing a club. He was not a foolish youth, and he immediately turned and ran for his life. Unfortunately, another mafia stood behind him, and quickly cut him down with a burst from his automatic weapon. The body of poor Dapperdan lay in the street, along with the paltry $20 the mafia offered his family for his life. "He got in the way," read the note they received. In the face of such heinous crimes, we all quake in fear, and look for our savior in the sky.

Even the hospitals, sanctuaries of mercy, are not safe it seems. Past midnight, a doctor was working late, saving lives. On the way out of the hospital, Dr. NudeRaider entered the elevator to reach his car. Before he could exit, someone opened the hatch from above. The security camera in the elevator short-circuited at this point, but surveillance footage from the basement hallway shows an apparently insane NudeRaider screaming uncontrollably as he is kicked out of the elevator in front of another mafia. They then brutally beat him to death, supposedly to teach him a lesson in the futility of saving life. The mafia fled before the hospital staff could do anything to help NudeRaider, who died in minutes.

Our breaking news staff also bring us reports that a member of the mob has been found dead. Police responded to calls of a disturbance in the Narrows around 4 a.m. and discovered the body of Dark_Marine in a dumpster. He had a bullet hole from a sniper rifle clear through his brain and was declared dead on the scene. He was found to be carrying marked bills and an illegal weapon, which was quickly traced to the mob. While some citizens rejoice that there are vigilantes who seem to be taking to the streets with violence to stop the mafia, the police are adamant that they will not tolerate it. They also continue to promise to catch the "bat man," but the sincerity of that promise is doubted by many.

Mysterious Man Plays at Anarchy
by Mark Gresham

Last night, TV viewers in Gotham were shocked by the interruption of The Late Show by a strange man wearing a clown mask. He demanded the death of Vrael, which did not happen last night. As the next night nears, if the town does not draw the blood of Vrael themselves, this mysterious "Joker" swears to kill two men in Vrael's place.

The Joker seems to find this an amusing social experiment - tempt the town with murder to save lives. Will it work? I won't speak for the morals of the town, but I for one believe that people are easily bought and sold, and the promise of personal safety will turn out to be worth much more than the slaughter of a potentially innocent man. But we shall see. I know how I am voting... I want to see my wife and children survive this war alive.

The puzzles are going to be a lot harder to solve I imagine, due to no punctuation and being grouped into 5.

Which leaves reason to believe there are clues to solving them. Now that may be the 'Kool Eher' AKA 'Look Here' or even page numbers. 'A1, G2.'

Clue wise, I am fairly confident there is significance in the $20 bill and the note. And in the green light on the floor that Echo stupidly picked up.

We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch

Yay, again dead in the first night. My streak of being killed right away continues. In like 8 Mafia games there was only 1 time when I wasn't killed first night and not Mafia. That seriously sucks. Can't you go look for another victim for a change? :bye3

Well at least we got a Mafia too and only 3 townies dead. Good job, Boondock (or maybe even Directors?).
At this rate it'll be glorious town victory. :D

Oh and I think I have the wrong color on the front page. Nvm just looks like it because it isn't bold.
Btw. Darksnow was right... It's Day 2... :0_o:

Wow, lol it seems the mafia doctor saved Vrael. I say we vote Vrael tonight, let him do as much clue solving as possible in the time frame he has, so we can save two people.

Probabilities if we lynch a townie of joker hits:
Probability of at least 1 Faction Mafia dying is: 31.746
Probability of at least 1 Mafia Doctor dying is: 6.87831
Probability of at least 1 Patrolmen dying is: 19.8413
Probability of at least 1 Boondock dying is: 6.87831
Probability of at least 1 Pardoner dying is: 6.87831

Probability of at least 1 Director dying is: 25.9259
Probability of at least 1 Regular Townie dying is: 68.7831
Probability of at least 1 Faction Townie dying is: 92.0635
Probability of at least 1 Special Townie dying is: 61.1111
Probability of any given individual being mafia: 16.6667

Probability if we lynch a mafia of joker hits:
Probability of at least 1 Faction Mafia dying is: 25.9259
Probability of at least 1 Mafia Doctor dying is: 6.87831
Probability of at least 1 Patrolmen dying is: 19.8413

Probability of at least 1 Faction Townie dying is: 92.5926
Probability of at least 1 Special Townie dying is: 61.1111
Probability of any given individual being mafia: 13.3333

Make of it what you will. I myself am satisfied that the differences (31.746-16.1666) and (25.9259-13.333) are large enough to warrant not lynching me, unless of course some sort of evidence were provided that I am actually a mafia, say there's actually a 74% chance that I'm mafia based on clues or something, then 31-74 is negative so definitely not worth it. At this point I think a second mafia death would be worth the townie death that will almost undoubtedly ensue (92% chance of at least 1 townie dying), but if someone has better logic than me please explain.

As for the puzzles, I think we're going to have to do some statistical analysis. If the cipher is constructed in the same manner as last mafia game it will be hard to crack since we don't have any obvious segments of the clues like "My dear townsfolk" this time. I'll work on modifying my code-cracker program from last Mafia game so I can distribute it to you guys and we'll have a larger chance of cracking it. All we know currently is that every key value must be between 0 and 25 (26 mod 26 = 0), and that the key is shorter than the length of the message (assuming DTBK left us a chance to crack it :P ).

I'm going to have to agree with this.

As useful as Vrael's math is, I'd rather not take the chance of:
A. Him being mafia
B. The Joker nailing two of us in his place.

Even if statistically the two Joker kills would be likely to take a mafia, we could also lose another doctor or someone else useful almost as easily. I'd rather not take that risk.

It'd be wasting a vote to lynch you when we could hit the Joker instead.
What, darksnow is the Boondock? Thanks for potentially revealing him to the Mafia.
Also, Excalibur, that's not a robot in his avatar. It's obviously the Rocket Knight.

I vote Darkling for now.

Ultraviolet -- oh yeah probably. think I misinterpreted the original message. I thought he meant moving the flag revealed the base in the sense that it opened it up to being scouted, but what you're saying makes more sense

Sie_Sayoka -- dont those ladder maps have use map settings game type? i remember in a lot of them there was display text showing the maker and other credits at the beginning

fritfrat -- Good point.. maybe in Melee it sets off the hard-coded Capture the Flag logic when they pick up a p12 flag, revealing the SCV
[2025-5-14. : 4:34 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah, I forget how they do it, but they can preplace P12 units in melee / TvB maps. Maybe unit sprites
[2025-5-14. : 3:38 pm]
fritfrat -- Artosis and Tasteless were chatting on an ASL cast that 6 player maps will likely never happen for competitive SC, but Artosis mentioned how there was a concept of one where a worker had to pick up a flag to get out of their base, which resulted in their base being revealed. That's not possible with Melee / Top vs Bottom settings, is it? Thought I'd ask..
