For switching weapons use EUD's to detect HP so the player doesnt get free life everytime he switchs.
I think he's using vHP so this shouldn't be an issue.

For gernade, use the Waypoint Casting System + a reverb effect to bounce it off walls, I beleive loveless is doing this so you can contact him.
For cover, when your stuck on a wall and walking pinned against it, slow the player down with air units or burrow ground unit.
For that giant light gun use a ghost with nuke and find the point the nuke would hit, then initaite bang.
When the player is behind cover, constantly negate the enemy attacks or make them less damaging. HOWEVER using EUD's to detect if the player is firing, i.e over wall and exposed, increase the damage/amount of being hit, it would be more realistic and reliable then just random invincibility, seeing as you have to give a little if you want to be effective.
For firing, use EUD's to detect the player firing and subtract appropriate ammo and play respective wav. I've gotta go, dad's turning off internet, later!!

Problem with this... I have no idea how to use EUD's I never really got that far into Starcraft's map editor. It's weird because I've been playing Starcraft ever since it came out, and I started working on maps maybe 1-2 years into the game, and yet I'm still not all that good at making maps... I'm decent with extended terrain and I'm not the best with triggers... If there is someone out there willing to teach me a little more about triggers and mapping that would be great! If you need to contact me I'm usually on Asia, because I'm currently IP Banned from East and West (Not sure why I got banned from both).

Yeah I basically like the idea of using a location for each player and as a tank is brought into the location toggeling allience status or invinsability. Also what pigy said i think or something the way point casting system could be very effective for grenades n stuff etc.
map sounds very nice if you can pull it off but you'll have to get creative if you wnat to pull off the full effect of gears of war...I'd like to help if I can. ;o

Yo I'm pretty good at triggering, though I'm not the best I'm pretty experienced. I can also do a fair amount of terraining though im by fare not the best.

I started working more on the Trailer, and I'm really proud of what I got, and I wanted to post it up tonight sometime... So here it is!
It's barely anything, as soon as I finish the texts I'm gonna add scenery, but I may need some ideas from some people, so if you want your idea in the trailer post it up!

This trailer is mainly made for ideas, and when I get all these ideas up and when the trailer is done I'm gonna start working on the map.
I had to test it on Asia, so if the sounds are not in sync with the text, that would be your reason why...

That's complete bullshit, EUD's are still capable of insane things without actions, you obviously don't know much about them just for typing those two sentences.

Either way... I probably still wont use any in the map anyways, and if I were to use one, I would probably use a health detecting EUD. Other than that, I wont be using any, because like some one said earlier I should be using vHP.

I really quickly thought of something when i saw the title of this thread last night >_>
When you're in "cover," you could have an obsever, dt, something cloaked that is allied to the computer player, and depending where you are in cover (as in, depending whether you're perfectly behind it or not) you could toggle invincibility on the human player and ally status or player ownage for the cloaked units on the tank at different rates. This makes it look like they're still trying to hit you, but missing, because they're hitting the observer more than you, and of course you can't see the observer.
I don't even know if I explained this right, I just woke up -_-;
1) Observers have ugly shadows, burrowed units ftw.
2) If the computer is unallied to both, chances are, observers are of lower priority.
