He used floor turrets to conceal the edge of the ground.

and many many pylon aura sprites to make them blue.

Jungle has the most documented blends, behind it, Badlands, what terrain you pick should depend on your map's storyline.

Jungle for sure, plus all the terrain blending references and other things are made for the jungle tileset. But it would be more original to use a tileset and invent your own blends.

It is just made of those floor gun turrets.
