Asteroidz!

Asteroidz! is a simple reproduction of the classic game "Asteroids." It's a simple map that exists more for the purpose of killing time than any other reason. The game starts off easy, but each level is more difficult; I do not expect players to be able to "beat" the map, or even to take the time to do so...after all, you have better things to do than swat asteroids all day, right? This game is supposed to be a simple way to pass the time in between other activities; as such, it is intentionally repetitive, and does not require much energy to play.

For those of you who have not played Asteroids, the concept is very simple. Each level starts out with a number of large asteroids. Each time you shoot an asteroid, it breaks into twice as many smaller asteroids. If an asteroid collides with your ship, you lose a life; destroying all the asteroids on the map sends you to the next level.

In this adaptation of the classic game, you use disruption web to shoot asteroids. Use the recharger at the bottom of the map (either key will work) to replenish your energy. On harder levels, there will be radiation in addition to asteroids; use the scanner to spot the radiation.

When shooting a large asteroid, there is a slight chance that one of two special effects will occur. The asteroid could spawn three extra lives; run these over to collect them. Alternatively, it might spawn an iron core, which is indestructable. You do not have to destroy the iron core to go on to the next level.

Set the game's difficulty by adjusting the game speed when you host it. Unlike most maps, Asteroidz! is not designed to be played on fastest speed; while it is possible to play on the fastest speed, it is very difficult to hit the smallest asteroids on that setting, so less experienced players should play on a slower game speed until they figure out some of the more efficient ways to kill micrometeorites (or get tired of the map).

Known bugs: It is possible to escape from the playing field if one pushes against the lower boundary with sufficient determination. This could easily be fixed, but it's sometimes nice to be able to step away from the action, so I've decided not to strengthen the boundary. If you decide to take advantage of this feature, remember not to get too close to the carriers; you do not need to be on the battlefield for micrometeorites to kill you.

Get it here.

Ultraviolet -- That's strange, it looks like you targeted the base image file (sometimes people make the mistake of just using the imgur page link which doesn't work for embedding) but it still didn't work it sounds like.
