[09:56 am] Oh_Man -- Well everyone today is the day my daughter was born - the most Zerg thing I've ever witnessed. Shoutout to my SEN bros
Congratulations to Oh_Man on his baby girl.
I myself have been married for 5 years now and have a son and a daughter. The little guy had his first t-ball game last week and was the clear ringer on his team. I may brown bag it to tomorrow's game if it doesn't get rained out.
I promoted to the grade of mjor this week, and will be transitioning to the Air Force Reserves at the end of the year. My goal is to find stable employment in North Carolina. If you're hiring in tech or cybersecurity, let me know. Otherwise, share your life story since you stopped playing a video game from the '90s.

Exactly who said I stopped?
Right now, at least for the moment, I manage a support team for a high end salon software / SaaS company. It has its good and bad days. I'd like to find something new after learning staying anywhere more than a few years is a mistake and only leads to less money and more headaches.
I spend most of my spare time, and so far almost $25000, into a DayZ Stalker RP project called Isolation, where I am the Lead Designer.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
Oh, cool, Excalibur! I'm quite surprised how many people ended up in professional game development. I hope your project will end up being a great success!
Congratulations to your family, dumbducky! Sounds lovely! I wish you best of luck finding the good, stable job you seek and I hope you will keep having a wonderful time with your loved ones despite the turbulences Trump/Musk are creating!
I haven't posted here in a long time. A lot has happened in my life:
I'm engaged.
I'm developing software in cloud backend of a heating system manufacturer. I'm in one of the highest paid jobs that one can reach in Germany in a German company as a software engineer. Previously, I was in IT consulting for 6-7 years working in different industries with varying technologies until a customer had a strong desire to keep me around.
I've helped the SC2 balance council a bit with some SC2 patches in the last few years via providing open source bug fixes.
I'm fighting off people that project their personal problems onto me/my fiancé. Insurances for legal things are really worth it (in Germany)!
I've cut myself lose from toxic relationships within my family.
I hope my life will become nicely calm and uneventful again. Then we will probably look into long vacation trips, family planning and buying a house!
TLDR: I'm living my life as I want to live it and fight for my right do so!
Aye glad to see a post like this & glad to see some old faces. I often times wonder how my friends from like 2 decades ago are doing.
As for me, my life the last 20 years has been marred by times of immense substance abuse & periods of sobriety. Drinking was my main DOC, but I dabbled in hard stuff & it all took a toll. However, I'm happy to say that, as of this week, I am 3 years completely sober-the longest I've ever been since I was 14, I'm 36 now. The birth of my kids has a lot to do with me staying clean, and the divorce from my ex-wife has a lot to do with me spiraling to a point that I needed to change. (Not to blame anyone for my own actions, but shit was rough) In the end, sobriety was the easiest decision I ever made but the most difficult task to endure. I basically had to erase myself & 99% of my associations to start anew. Fun stuff. But it was all worth it because my son & daughter are who I live for now & I get to be with them every chance I get.
Despite all that, I have fortunately been able to keep the same job for 16 years & I'm now the head materials manager for a large road construction company. I tend to work 60-80 hours a week at this position & try not to get burned out by winter. I'm usually working out of town in gravel pits or quarries with crushers or asphalt plants & estimating for bids on upcoming projects. It's a good union gig & I am glad I could be successful without going to college. I'm good at my job & it's very intense at times. Also it's VERY hard on relationships & having a family. The company got bought out a few years ago by a bigger corporation & they've since been utilizing me in the offseason as an instructor for their other divisions. Feels pretty good to give back in the form of my knowledge & experience.
I'll still game on the few weekends when I don't have my kids, it also helps keeps me out of trouble. Built a Ferrari of a PC a couple of years ago to play the best games out there, yet I seem to only play the classics, SNES emulation & SC1 from time to time lol.
My TLDR: Drugs are bad mmkay & go to school so you don't have to work maniacal hours.
None.
@Ahli
Professional is a stretch. Its a team of dedicated modders and I am most of the time a wallet with a mouth.

I joke a bit but really its our scripters, our mappers, and our importers who are truly skilled. I simply set up all the game systems that make the world go. It's all data entry at it's core. But I'm very proud of my work, my team, and our community. I wish I could get more SENners interested in what we're doing, because it would help a lot. The niche we operate in is plagued by a lot of bad actors and bad behavior and we are slowly changing the status quo through our actions and those of a few close partner teams.
@Donwano
I'm sorry the roads been rough but I am glad you are in a good place. Make sure to keep up with us in SEN discord for those times where you open up SC. We're still here, and will be until Blizzard turns the lights out.

Please don't feel sorry for me. It was all decisions I made myself, nobody held a gun to my head & made me do it. I like to think I'm a better person now than I was all them years ago & but this was just the atypical path I took to get there. I'll check out the discord one of these times for sure.

A lot has happened because of COVID, and I went back to college and am now double majoring in Film, Television & Electronic Media and Cinema Production. I like my new job as an English tutor, and I'm currently a producer for one film and director of photography for another.

Made a bunch of money in cybersecurity, but it's pretty joyless. I made it my life and got really good at it, but lost a lot of my creative spark/drive.
Currently trying to just funnel said $ into making up for my lack of time/drive. (as you can tell by my posts)
Sounds like Ex figured out how to make this work, so hopefully I will soon too.
Are you hiring? I have background in cybersecurity. Will vulnerability scan for money.

I'm currently in the middle of a film production, and it is turning out really well.
