Basic Game Description
This is a LOTRish style map that takes place during the first conquest of Yodong (Liadong). Take on the role of the heroes of Goryeo in the tense historical conflict between the Ming Dynasty (China), Northern Yuan (Mongols), and Goryeo (Korea) as you aim to conquer Liadong.
Hero units are important generals and civil servants of the late Goryeo Dynasty, as well as the Jurchen people that joined Goryeo.
There are up to 4 hero slots, and 1 slot for Goryeo. The Goryeo slot is optional. If nobody picks the Goryeo slot, an AI will take over instead.
※[Caution] Unlike most LOTRish maps, when you destroy a base it will be occupied instead of destroyed. When a region is occupied, it can become a target for attacks by other nations. Due to the large number of new mechanics added, this is the most unique LOTRish style map that is currently available for play, and even veterans of the LOTRish genre may want to take time to read the tooltips available in game.
※[Caution] The Goryeo slot is very difficult and may overwhelm new players due to the large number of mechanics to keep track of.
Heroes

There are 31 basic heroes, divided into 3 tiers of power.
You can purchase a random hero for 100 Gas in the engineering bay by going to the Recruit (X)Open List option then selecting (Z)Recruit Hero. If there are no more heroes, a Captain (Scout) will be acquired.

The official title of the hero is below the unit name, and the tier of the unit is indicated by the number of colons around the unit.

Yi Gu (ghost) is a 2nd tier commander as he has 2 colons.
Depending on the hero they may have a passive/active ability. This will be detailed in the action panel of the unit:

Kim Yong-jin (mutalisk) has the passive ability fighting spirit, which heals his health to full every 9 seconds.
- Hero Training
You can strengthen every hero individually by selecting the (C)Training button.

The information on the training button gives a quick summary of the training levels for each stat.

Stats can be trained multiple times.
Training the hero costs gas, so you must choose between making your existing hero stronger or drafting a new hero.
The Vice Chief of Staff Yi In-im (Carrier) can be trained with the the crystal on the top left.
Army
Each faction has 3 tiers of units, indicated by the color of the unit:
White – Basic (tier 3)
Teal – Veteran (tier 2)
Green – Elite (tier 1)
Purple – Special
Special units are dependent on the region. If the region has a large city, an upgraded special unit will be produced.
Goryeo (Korea) – Specializes in long-range archers. Their siege weapons also focus on range and firepower. Large City Special Unit: Royal Guard (Marine)
Northern Yuan (Mongols) – Focuses on archers with high health and high attack power. Has the siege ram which has the most hp and shield. Large City Special Unit: Keshik (Hydra)
Ming Dynasty (China) – Produces all types of troops. 10-20% increase in specs compared to other nations of the same tier. Can be very strong late game. Large City Special Unit: Imperial Guard Troop(Ghost)
Every player is given a flag that they can use to direct movement of all non hero troops:

There are many options for troop movement based on tier, melee/range, etc. The flag has a very high movement speed so there is very little delay in trying to mass units from on end of the map to another.
Army size limit can grow up to 200, so you'll want to make good use of the masser to effectively move your army across the map.
Note that seige weapons are not moved via masser in the latest 0.7 version.
Difficulty Selection and Scaling
The Field Army Commander can build invincible towers, and all tanks become invincible.
Enemy units are upgraded every 10 turns.
The Goryeo player can build twice the number of towers.
At the start of the game you will be prompted to select the difficulty with the R T Y U keys:

The Lv3 difficulty is the recommended difficulty setting and is considered the official setting for balancing.
Events/Missions
As you play through the map, various events/missions will occur. The time left to complete the mission will be indicated on the top left on the screen even after the mission description text disappears.

You do not need to complete the missions to win the game, but it is highly encouraged. Failure to complete the mission will buff the enemy and deny you additional resources.
Certain events/missions are only available on higher difficult levels.
- Alliance with the Ming Dynasty
At the start of the game, Goryeo is allied to the Ming Dyansty. The alliance may be broken upon certain diplomatic events, or when Northern Yuan is completely destroyed.
- Diplomatic Events
There are diplomatic events where the Goryeo player can make a decision using the Q (accept) or W (resist).
For example, the Ming dynasty may request you to turn over ownership of a region to them, or you may be asked to pay for military costs by disbanding your structures.
In general, accepting the diplomatic request will debuff the player in somewayw, while resisting will instead increase the number of upgrades on the enemy army.
If the Goryeo slot is controlled by the AI, they will always choose to resist.
Regions
There are a total of 38 regions on the map.
Each country has regions they prioritize based on importance. If there is a region marked with high importance, the AI will try to occupy it first.
Each region has development points and training levels in the city. Development points can be used for various actions in the city.
The higher the training level, the stronger the troops generated per turn are.
The training level determines the quality of troops created each turn in the region.

You can use the Construct Garrison (Z) button with your arbiter to decide which region will be your base.
This is where your troops will spawn, as well as creating a beacon where you can go to heal your heroes.
You may move your garrison any number of times, but you cannot share a region with another player.
- AI City Movement Pathing

The color indicates the general path the AI will push with their spawned troops.
- Fortress

There are 7 fortresses (armory) on the map. These regions do not produce any unit but has a splash attack that is devastating on army units. Useful for holding back enemy armies.

Additional Notes
BGM:
Cheon-gun - Final Battle / Musin - Urgent Wind / Jeong Do-jeon - Hero of the Ages
Certain map mechanics that are available in the Korean version of the map are not available in the English version. Most of these mechanics are information related (e.g. a table of cities when select delete key, a minimap made of text when you select the ~ key) and were not implemented because the length of english pronouns vary drastically in comparison to Korean.
Due to translation being done via a string sheet, I was unable to catch typos/formatting issues. So any typo/formatting issues are likely to stay.
Made with the Map Production template.
