Lore
Premise ;
The year 2044, an asteroid, several hundred earths in size impacts the sun. Before the world can react, Earth is wreathed in solar storms and extreme atmospheric decay. Hundreds of millions die within the first weeks. The day lives in historic infamy as the day the sun was poisoned.
Over the next decades, the earth is bombarded by solar flares. The sun begins to expand rapidly, destroying most life on the planet and boiling the oceans. Survivors begin construction on various vault-like underground sanctuaries all over the dying world, capable of housing hundreds of thousands. Despite the mass death, there was still not enough room for all. Businessmen, bureaucrats and the wealthy are among the first to buy their way in, leaving those less fortunate to rot on the surface. Across the stars, something watches the earth with keen interest …
200 years pass, vast majorities of the planet are nothing more than arid desert and scorched lands. Those that have survived the harsh surface have adapted, however at the cost of their humanity. These mutant tribes have banded together under an enigmatic woman known only as Kapek, the supposed savior and messiah of the mutant surfacers. In contempt of her union, many tribal Order states war with one another over resources, power or beliefs.
Those that had fled into subterranean fortresses so many decades ago have re-emerged, as a technological and extreme-industrial society that call themselves the Coalition of Allied City-States. The great grandchildren of the original bureaucratic founders have seemingly made it their goal to retake the surface. Despite being an ‘allied coalition’, it appears as if the ruling bodies of individual city-states constantly butt heads with one another. They vye for power on the broken surface as well as within their own underground sanctuaries.
In recent years, a mysterious 3rd party has taken root within the lands of earth. Biomechanical and violent in nature, it is obvious these visitors aren’t of the peaceful variety. Massive terraforming spires have been constructed all over the earth, spewing strange and foriegn toxins into the already dying atmosphere. In the face of this unrelenting alien power, it has been observed that these aliens on occasion slay each other as if fighting for colonization rights. These strange beings have been nicknamed the 'Listeners'.

Factions ;
The
Coalition of Allied City-States relies on overwhelming firepower to win the day. Their arsenal includes powerful walkers and tanks supported by mechanized troopers. Able to defend and take ground with an iron fist, the Coalition is a slow beast to rouse but is near unstoppable once in full gear.
Strengths: Vehicular warfare, Nuclear Weapons, Defense.
Mediocrities: Aircraft, Infantry, Early-game.
The
Order of Kapek uses speed, subterfuge and stealth to defeat its enemies. Their infantry forces have adapted to life on a hellish surface. The combination of desperate evolution and adaptation has led to the Order developing a powerful arsenal of psychics and cybernetically-enhanced warriors. It is unsure if they recall their humanity.
Strengths: Infantry tactics, Artillery, Stealth.
Mediocrities: Vehicles, Aircraft, Defense.
The
Listeners have arrived on earth to make one thing clear; this world belongs to them now. These aliens are capable of rapidly deploying their landing forces, allowing them to field powerful units before their foes. Listener fleets can dominate the air and rain destruction upon their enemies.
Strengths: Aircraft, Fast Tech, Early-game.
Mediocrities: Expensive, Lowish population.

A Dying Sun is heavily inspired by old-school Command & Conquer games. I plan to incorporate elements from classics like Dune, Tiberian Sun and Generals. Mechanics like secondary economies, superweapons and support powers that can be deployed anywhere on the field with the click of a button. The economy system in general has been changed ; harvesting minerals and gas takes longer, workers move a bit slower however return considerably more resources per trip. Infantry tend to be cheaper and vehicles/aircraft tend to be more expensive than vanilla starcraft.
It's still pretty heavy in development, once I feel it's in a more presentable state I'll be posting up a bit of an alpha version to help with stomping bugs, as there's probably quite a few. This mod also includes a functioning AI.
Credits!
-Thank you to the staredit community all the work you put into providing custom resource assets for mods, which Dying Sun uses quite a lot of.
-Thank you to DarkenedFantasy, Nekron and IlyaSnopchenko for helping in my AI troubles.

Help
There's still quite a bit of work to do in this mod, and one of my current problems is that there are placeholder assets in the mod. If anyone is able to willing to rip sprite assets from Tiberian Sun, I would be super greatful. What I'd love to get my hands on are the sprites for the -
-
NOD Cyborg Commando-
NOD Rocket Infantry-
Tiberium FiendThese don't need to be converted to grp, I'd very much like them in spritesheet forms (as a psd if possible) so I can make personal edits and then I can convert them to grp myself.
*This mod uses a lot of Tiberian Sun sprites, but these I ripped from screenshots and gifs posted on the C&C Wiki.
