Hey, I am MasterLex and i play StarCraft for about 15 years.
I live in Germany so I hope my posts will be understandable. I try my best. Feel free to correct me so I can improve :)

Less of my friends still play Starcraft 1. So I startet my own mapmaking two weeks ago to create Coop-Scenarios. I like playing StarCraft on LAN-Partys but these events seems to be quite rare.
It is a

I am not a pro player but I try my best to pose a challenge to others.

I'd love to play melee myself but the best way to improve is to play with people who are only a little better than myself but I don't think those exist anymore given my skill level. :P

The best place to find practice partners here might be on the discord although I don't think we have many good players.

If you're interested in making ums, you'll find some of our best maps in this thread. Most of the download links are dead but I think you can still find the maps under 'starcraft I files' or their corresponding threads. Those maps should provide guidelines to help you direct your time and attention to the things you need to improve most.

Welcome to SEN! :)

Just here for the pie

I'll play melee with you. I play Terran, ~1700 MMR on ladder.

Ultraviolet -- just sent you a message on Discord. I suspect you're probably trying to change unit speeds for units that don't use flingy.dat for movement (like any units that walk instead of hovering/flying). You can change their movement to flingy, but they unfortunately look more like they're gliding than walking when you do that.

Symmetry -- EE2, I've been using setdatfile successfully for units.dat and weapons.dat but the flingy changes don't seem to happen

Ultraviolet -- in EE2 you just open DatEdit, go to the flingy tab, and make whatever changes you want. Though if you want to do dynamic shit, you have to use the trigger editor with the setdatfile action. And of course you have to inject your changes when done. Can give more specific troubleshooting advice if you provide more details
