A static copy of SEN v4's forums is now hosted on SEN at
v4.staredit.net.
The database backup in use is the last known backup taken of SEN v4, once which I took on February 10th, 2007. The code was generously donated by
Doodle. I may or not may not tweak it to make more information from v4 accessible and displayed, but currently the existing forums, topics, and posts are there.
For those around for v4, enjoy your nostalgia. For those who weren't, enjoy your history. For those who don't care, enjoy your day anyway.

Can you kindly explain to me this "version" stuff? Is it literally just versions of your site/forum?
This is vaguely familiar, so I guess that's what it is.
/Edit
It's funny how next to none of the posters in the modding section are alive anymore. This is only 2007, too. Not that long ago.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.
2007 is five years ago. Starcraft came out 12 years ago. (Or is it 13 yet?). That's like almost half of starcraft's life.

Yeah, but it's not that long ago for me. :3 2007 was the tail end of my time in the community at large.
God my typing is shit lately.

This is awesome, although I've looked through
it a few times before

I cannot find a single post under my name. I was a very shy guy.
I know, however, I was heavy into comments under maps I uploaded. That is about it.
None.
Ahah, my threads were so ugly back then. Even if I did have a better name >.<.

Yes, that was one reason I wanted to have the database in a readable form. Since Doodle had already had code built around using it that could display the forums, I just asked him for it so we could have a v4 archive up and running on SEN. The files for the old DLDB are of course gone, but all the stored information on them should be buried in there as well. Might be other useful things to look at, too.

The version number is generally incremented when SEN is redone sufficiently that it is a new "version" of itself. v1, v2, and v3 were initial launches of the site and redesigns. To give an idea of the scale of changes for recent versions, SEN v4 was fully integrated with
Invision Power Board. v5 was marked with SEN fully using its own code.
Whenever the decimal after the version number is indicated, it typically indicates extremely large updates that either change how a lot of things work or change a lot of the core code.

I see. I can't even begin to tell you how many "re-launches" Star Alliance had planned going for it back in the day. That site exchanged more webmasters then you can possibly imagine, each more inept and lazy than the last. And, amongst all of that, all of the site's old content was lost (old old content), and the new "site" never reached true fruition. Then there's the many sites I personally was a part of with WarGiant, trying to launch various new things, all failures, though not from lack of effort.
CC on the other hand has a little more entertaining of a history to it. One day we should share war stories. If only FF hadn't eaten my huge post...

Nice to see doodle's archive is being hosted again. The good old days (2004-2007) when we were damned amazing at being an SC forum, live on.
I joined just after v4 was launched. I was a spotty 15 year old who had just discovered how the Campaign Editor worked, and I ended up learning a lot about map editing.

This is amazing.
I THINK I was on SEN back then, mainly as a lurker or primarily posting in UMS assistance asking for help...
I remember when it was SEN... then SEN died and I had to go to Maplantis... then SEN came back up and I was on both for a while... then Maplantis died and now it has just been SEN ever since.
HEY GUYS
REMEMBER WHEN YOSHI WAS AN ADMIN
AND THEN HE WASN'T
AND THEN HE WAS AGAIN.
MAN THOSE WERE THE TIMES
HOW DID WE EVER FORGET?
Holy shit when SEN used to be good, back on SEN again.

Might be nice to reminisce.

Maplantis did not die so much as it was merged into SEN. Unless you meant that; I just want to clarify for you or other readers who may not have known.

It is, but the copy Doodle is hosting was and still is online. Nor do I have intend to ask him to terminate the copy he is running, as my/SEN's purposes for having our own up and running are already accomplished/able to be accomplished.

Merge die what's the difference. The site shut down and everyone had to move over here. It was for the best though, they were basically just sister sites. No point splitting up the already small community.
Also can someone tell me who Bolt Head is and what his maps are?
According to these archives he was regarded with as much respect as Tuxlar.

http://v4.staredit.net/index.php?st=10695Obviously the links do not work, but that thread suffices for the purpose of identifying his maps.
EDIT: I uploaded
House of the Haunted to the DLDB.

Cheerz.
Yer I think the Rock is the only one I played... it was basically a concept map if I recall correctly.
Having trouble finding these on SEN DLDB, can someone help me out?
LETS GO MAKE A ZOMBIE MAP

Yeah! More 'Resident Evil this' and 'Zombie Attack that'! Now that is a blast of nostalgia.
