[2017-5-09. : 4:22 pm] NudeRaider -- Mini Moose 2707Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Honestly, maybe we should offload the wiki to wikia or something. >_> oh god pls, no! First you move the articles that are the very essence, the distilled knowledge of SEN to some obscure part of SEN that doesn't open in the same window and looks completely different (and not in the good sense). Half the articles didn't even make the transfer, the other half got their formatting broken, and now you plan to remove it from SEN entirely, creating another load of work, and breaking/losing who knows how many articels again? I have to object that with all my fibers. Why can't we just get our articles back to SEN, like in v4? They were well organized, easy to find, followed the site skin and thus felt like an organic part of SEN. This is a god damn forum. I will not accept, that a couple of posts are supposed to be responsible for bringing the site down. It's literally designed to do just that. But yes, by all means, get rid of that ugly wiki.[2017-5-09. : 9:45 am] Lanthanide -- http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1252555-i-bet-there-will-be-flying-cars-in-the-future[2017-5-09. : 5:50 am] Steeldragon -- I'm remaking a map in SCMDraft 2 that I apparently originally made in the original SCMDraft i think. it's been 5 years[2017-5-09. : 4:49 am] Steeldragon -- oh well, you all just get to pretend my title is my name, and my name is my title[2017-5-09. : 4:46 am] *Steeldragon sighs as name changes are disabled*[2017-5-09. : 4:34 am] Steeldragon -- my Crash RPG failed on the enemy front I think because I screwed up the AI by telling it the whole map was its single town.[2017-5-09. : 4:33 am] Zoan -- SteeldragonSteeldragon shouted: I just accidentally found my way over to SEN after years of being gone. got the urge to remake a map better i hope :3 yea there are a lot of ppl coming back to make maps again ![]() [2017-5-09. : 4:32 am] Steeldragon -- don't ever tell an AI that the whole map is its base, it doesn't know how to function then.[2017-5-09. : 4:32 am] Zoan -- btw hey moose while you are making changes, get rid of the (1/2) thing in the forumla for the raffle ;o I'd start playing again if you did[2017-5-09. : 4:32 am] Steeldragon -- I just accidentally found my way over to SEN after years of being gone. got the urge to remake a map better i hope[2017-5-09. : 4:14 am] Steeldragon -- hey it's been a long time since I was last here but umm I forgot what upgrades were needed for terran lvl 2 & 3 weapons and armor.[2017-5-09. : 4:01 am] Dem0n -- people probably see "Starcraft II Files" and immediately look elsewhere LMAO[2017-5-09. : 4:00 am] Dem0n -- forever but nobody looks past "Starcraft I Files" so they never see it LMAO[2017-5-09. : 3:59 am] Zoan -- MoogleMoogle shouted: I see wiki link up top on the menu bar O_O how long has that been there lmao[2017-5-09. : 3:08 am] Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Maybe if I just add a wget command to download more ram to /etc/crontab everything will be fixed You would be better off downloading it too your swap no?? lol[2017-5-09. : 3:08 am] Vrael -- ya also add a command to reboot the system every couple days too, sometimes my computer works 50% faster after I restart it[2017-5-09. : 3:01 am] Moose -- Maybe if I just add a wget command to download more ram to /etc/crontab everything will be fixed[2017-5-09. : 2:54 am] Vrael -- ya I download RAM from there all the time its great whenever my computer gets too slow I go there[2017-5-09. : 2:45 am] Ashamed -- VraelVrael shouted: why don't we just download some more RAM for SEN? that should help speed it up right? http://downloadmoreram.com/download.html. It currently looks like a completely separate website, and hardly anyone even checks it cuz it's hidden away.[2017-5-09. : 1:42 am] Moose -- I thought one of the intents behind hosting our own was to tie it into the already existing users table on the main site and integrate it like that, but that never happened, so why even should we host it at this point?[2017-5-09. : 1:39 am] Moose -- Honestly, maybe we should offload the wiki to wikia or something. >_>[2017-5-09. : 1:38 am] Moose -- There's also a caching option in MediaWiki that's supposed to help a lot. I haven't been able to get to work.[2017-5-09. : 1:37 am] Moose -- It is. I've occasionally contemplated killing it to see how it performs.[2017-5-09. : 1:35 am] UnholyUrine -- I noticed that the SEN Wiki is incredibly slow. Is that part of the same Server, moose?[2017-5-09. : 1:31 am] Moose -- Though in general, I'd be interested in seeing what work can be offloaded to javascript and such, if only because it puts the clients to work instead of the server, which can be helpful in reducing load.[2017-5-09. : 1:29 am] Moose -- AshamedAshamed shouted: Still took a bit for my shit to show up - Another good way to design shoutbox is to make Javascript on the local computer put the persons msg up and not wait for ajax to do a mysql lookup. You know what to display.. becuase they just wrote it. The trouble is calling the parser to process quote, emoticons, etc.[2017-5-09. : 1:00 am] Ashamed -- Still took a bit for my shit to show up - Another good way to design shoutbox is to make Javascript on the local computer put the persons msg up and not wait for ajax to do a mysql lookup. You know what to display.. becuase they just wrote it.[2017-5-09. : 12:57 am] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- how many tabs of the shoutbox should I leave open to make it work normally again?[2017-5-09. : 12:47 am] Moose -- Yeah. The shoutbox is loaded on every page and makes frequent queries, so if it's poorly optimized, then it kills things just by virtue of scale. So it's not going to fix everything, but fixing it definitely helped, I think. |
