O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- with that last bit, it's like with net neutrality. All the ISP's have to do is say like They're trying to regulate your Internet!, and then the public will be like "Whoa, shut this down!", again wthiout knowing what it means
[2017-9-01. : 4:56 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Corbo
Corbo shouted: Voyager7456 they do that here for electricity. There are only a handful providers and they have el salvador mapped out and stay out of each other. The charges are INSANE but rhe government ends up paying a huge percentage of it so we get cheap electricity.
I guess utilities like electricity or whatever are heavily regulated, so they can't just charge whatever for shit service. Some people try to push for that for internet so that everyone gets good service and you can't get fucked by your ISP, but Voyager7456
Voyager7456 shouted: Unlike the German government, ours is too busy sucking corporate dick to intervene, so the ISPs get to do whatever they want, including imposing arbitrary data caps
and then the public is like NO, REGULATION === BAD!!! without realizing what it entails
[2017-9-01. : 4:50 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: also, I don't think you could get dial-up in most of Germany anymore, even if you wanted to.
dialup isn't really restricted to area, all you need is a phone
[2017-9-01. : 4:41 pm]
Corbo -- Voyager7456
Voyager7456 shouted: There have been so many mergers that there's only a handful of broadband ISPs in the country. Then they all stay out of each other's territory

[2017-9-01. : 2:52 pm]
Voyager7456 -- It's not technically a monopoly because they have competitors in the area (who only offer dialup)
[2017-9-01. : 2:52 pm]
Voyager7456 -- There have been so many mergers that there's only a handful of broadband ISPs in the country. Then they all stay out of each other's territory

Voyager7456 -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: FaRTy1billion so you ARE telling me that a technologically advanced country like the US indeed can't do better? O.o
No, it's not a matter of technology, it's a matter of regulation
[2017-9-01. : 1:47 pm]
Excalibur -- I wish I could go work for them.
[2017-9-01. : 1:47 pm]
Excalibur -- I'll give some more in depth replies to the topic in about seven or eight hours. Good post from Ahli. The reason I don't have a YouTube or anything is because LTT does it better than I ever could.
[2017-9-01. : 1:16 pm]
NudeRaider -- what map

FaRTy1billion shouted: NudeRaider because the alternative is dialup

jjf28 -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: for some reason ISP's are allowed to monopolize areas, and charge as much for as little as they want
mad, but rightly so
[2017-9-01. : 10:20 am]
jjf28 -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: jjf28 half the game I was wondering why you'd link such a boring game... "cool, it has carriers - so?"

O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: How come a country one of the highest developed countries superimposes arbitrary limits on the most important medium there is? Or in simpler terms: Are you telling me you Americans can't do better with your Internet access?
because the alternative is dialup
[2017-9-01. : 6:40 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Voyager7456

O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Corbo
Corbo shouted: Oshit Depending on how I randomize this farty could have just killed everyone including himself
but mine can only kill 1 person, you can't have 9 states at once
[2017-9-01. : 12:19 am]
Corbo -- Maybe I should randomize how I randomize it.
[2017-9-01. : 12:18 am]
Corbo -- Oshit Depending on how I randomize this farty could have just killed everyone including himself

IskatuMesk shouted: I got a log metric for you right here
Vrael
Vrael shouted: IskatuMesk is it twice differentiable and induced on a hermitian space by an equivalent norm?
Vrael

WELL? I'M WAITING

IskatuMesk -- I got a log metric for you right here
[2017-8-31. : 9:39 pm]
Vrael -- tho I was technically wrong when I said 'logarithm', I was confusing my own shit
[2017-8-31. : 9:38 pm]
Vrael -- well, the exponential I'm using is also commonly referred to as a logistic function: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logistic_function
[2017-8-31. : 9:37 pm]
Vrael -- makes it complicated to complete my proof
[2017-8-31. : 9:37 pm]
Vrael -- exponential actually, theres an exponential in my metric function not a log

Vrael -- no but really I have a good job that I enjoy I won't do any of this
[2017-8-31. : 9:26 pm]
Vrael -- oh and I'll make sure to only distribute pre-compiled rpms so they can't look at any source to help figure out what's going on
[2017-8-31. : 9:25 pm]
Vrael -- I'm glad we're in agreement
[2017-8-31. : 9:24 pm]

[2017-8-31. : 9:24 pm]
Vrael -- that should just about do the job rite?
[2017-8-31. : 9:24 pm]
Vrael -- course I'll still leave room for the program to crash by allowing like 1 possible value of non-zero which will cause some segfaults for someone else to fix
[2017-8-31. : 9:23 pm]
Vrael -- actually if I set the machine precision tolerance high enough, everything will be interpreted as 0, then I can just say it all works and I will be correct
[2017-8-31. : 9:21 pm]
Vrael -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: ya, u mad AF
nah my intern will be mad AF on my behalf, I'll go play golf on my yacht or something
[2017-8-31. : 9:21 pm]

Vrael -- speaking of which I should get a grad student to intern for me and fix all my mistakes, anyone kno 1?
[2017-8-31. : 9:20 pm]
Vrael -- and who has the time to do a componentwise breakdown when the components are wrapped in logarithms? I mean uhg
[2017-8-31. : 9:19 pm]
Vrael -- if I set my machine precision tolerance level high enough it will be interpreted as 0 anyway
[2017-8-31. : 9:19 pm]
Vrael -- like if x==y and d(x,y) = something close to 0 that's good enough right? who cares about being exactly 0 anyway
