[2017-12-20. : 9:46 am]
NudeRaider -- ya :/
[2017-12-20. : 9:45 am]
Lanthanide -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: if I'm not entirely mistaken you can just vote for another party than DEM/REP. The only argument not to do that is that it'll never win, so your vote would be wasted. But do you honestly think, your one vote counts for shit among those other 300 million? Do what you think is the right choice. Break the circle. Change won't happen overnight anyway, but maybe in a couple of decades when you consistently stood for your idea. I also think the generation(s) that are now ~30 and younger have a lot of fresh ideas, so the stage is set to start a movement.
pity they have such a broken electoral system that the most realistic wave of change they can look forwards to will take 20+ years to arrive
[2017-12-20. : 9:17 am]
KrayZee -- First this, now this.
[2017-12-20. : 9:15 am]
NudeRaider -- what was so bad about those`?
[2017-12-20. : 9:15 am]
KrayZee -- After 2016 and 2017... can't imagine saying "Happy New Years 2018".
[2017-12-20. : 9:09 am]
Suicidal Insanity -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: terrain symmetry used to be on the top bar, and it's like 1 thing so idk why it can't be there still
Cause rotational symmetry has 3 sliders to adjust how it works :P
[2017-12-20. : 9:08 am]
Freakling -- Also, collapsible menus don't work under Linux/Wine…
[2017-12-20. : 9:05 am]
Freakling -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: Pr0nogo the whole interface under the minimap. It's probably fine, but all that stuff squeezes the tree down so tiny
I still think clipping windows, like GIMP uses, would be the best solution. Or just more hotkeys and tabs.
[2017-12-20. : 8:12 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- also I'll vote third-party :wob:

the only 3rd parties on my ballot were like super random people
[2017-12-20. : 8:07 am]
NudeRaider -- Voyager7456
Voyager7456 shouted: jjf28 the CBO is "center-left" only because "not pulling numbers out of your ass" has become a partisan position these days
ah so only the science party looks for accurate numbers :awesome:
[2017-12-20. : 8:01 am]
NudeRaider -- it's virtual but that won't be a problem, right? So it can be assigned as much hardware as you need.
[2017-12-20. : 7:59 am]
NudeRaider -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: in other news does anyone have a machine with a like 24 core xeon a few hundred GB of ram and a few TB of SSD space I can borrow?
sure. 10.77.1.30
[2017-12-20. : 7:55 am]

Voyager7456 shouted: jjf28 the CBO is "center-left" only because "not pulling numbers out of your ass" has become a partisan position these days
just watch some fox news to balance it out
[2017-12-20. : 5:30 am]
Lanthanide -- and since I don't pay US taxes, and live in a country with proper healthcare, there's no downsides
[2017-12-20. : 5:30 am]
Lanthanide -- me*
[2017-12-20. : 5:30 am]
Lanthanide -- I have money invested in international stocks
[2017-12-20. : 5:29 am]
Lanthanide -- yeah, will be great for my personally
[2017-12-20. : 5:28 am]
Pr0nogo -- let's hope it does!!!!
[2017-12-20. : 5:26 am]
Lanthanide -- ah, under debate
[2017-12-20. : 5:20 am]
Lanthanide -- so did the tax cut get passed?
[2017-12-20. : 5:14 am]
Pr0nogo -- don't be dog
[2017-12-20. : 4:40 am]
Voyager7456 -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: Vrael fine damn you, now I have to find another source that scores things early in the game :(
the CBO is "center-left" only because "not pulling numbers out of your ass" has become a partisan position these days
[2017-12-20. : 4:08 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- being able to collapse it at all would fix my problem xD though my resultion is big enough that I can at least still see the tree at the bottom
[2017-12-20. : 4:08 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- oh, I didn't see the v
[2017-12-20. : 4:07 am]
Pr0nogo -- and if you want you can still treat it 'like a menu' by closing it with that `v` button
[2017-12-20. : 4:06 am]
Pr0nogo -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: also "overlay settings" seem an awful lot like "display options" XD
ya, i was surprised it wasn't just chucked in there, but it's nice to have it be a bit more front and center
[2017-12-20. : 4:05 am]
jjf28 -- doesn't look like the CED, NBER, or PIIE are big on scoring upcoming policies, unfortunately, I guess if I just balance my intake from the Tax Policy Center and the Tax Foundation I'll be fine
[2017-12-20. : 3:51 am]
jjf28 -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: jjf28 its not non-partisan you turd, it got rated center-left by a bunch of other left sources, stop pushing your center-left agenda you center-leftist
fine damn you, now I have to find another source that scores things early in the game :(
[2017-12-20. : 3:38 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: in other news does anyone have a machine with a like 24 core xeon a few hundred GB of ram and a few TB of SSD space I can borrow?
sorry, I left mine in my other pants
[2017-12-20. : 3:28 am]
Vrael -- in other news does anyone have a machine with a like 24 core xeon a few hundred GB of ram and a few TB of SSD space I can borrow?
[2017-12-20. : 3:27 am]
Vrael -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: Pr0nogo house ways and means is a subcommittee of the house of representatives made up of politicians currently 24R, 15D, CBO is both self described (mission statement) and described by a large majority of economists and media watch dogs as a reliable, non-partisan source, tax policy center emphasizes independent fact-focused analysis, it gets rated between non-partisan and center-left by media watchdogs; economic analysis is largely voodoo, but some sources are definitely better than others
its not non-partisan you turd, it got rated center-left by a bunch of other left sources, stop pushing your center-left agenda you center-leftist
[2017-12-20. : 2:50 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- also "overlay settings" seem an awful lot like "display options" XD
[2017-12-20. : 2:44 am]
Pr0nogo -- which is not really my cup of tea
[2017-12-20. : 2:44 am]
Pr0nogo -- but i think SI wants us to use brush windows or something
[2017-12-20. : 2:43 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- terrain symmetry used to be on the top bar, and it's like 1 thing so idk why it can't be there still
[2017-12-20. : 2:43 am]
Pr0nogo -- minimizing terrain symmetry options saves some space
[2017-12-20. : 2:43 am]
Pr0nogo -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: Pr0nogo the whole interface under the minimap. It's probably fine, but all that stuff squeezes the tree down so tiny
yeah it took some getting used to, the tree being down there
[2017-12-20. : 2:42 am]
Pr0nogo -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: I think his argument was also that when you align and vote for a party, and then basically that party is the one who now has all the actual power and decides what happens
reminds me of that part of 1984 where the populace got really mad because no razors were available, and the protagonist was like "if only they acted like this against the government" or something
[2017-12-20. : 2:42 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Pr0nogo
Pr0nogo shouted: FaRTy1billion what stuff on the left
the whole interface under the minimap. It's probably fine, but all that stuff squeezes the tree down so tiny
[2017-12-20. : 2:42 am]
Pr0nogo -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: Pr0nogo house ways and means is a subcommittee of the house of representatives made up of politicians currently 24R, 15D, CBO is both self described (mission statement) and described by a large majority of economists and media watch dogs as a reliable, non-partisan source, tax policy center emphasizes independent fact-focused analysis, it gets rated between non-partisan and center-left by media watchdogs; economic analysis is largely voodoo, but some sources are definitely better than others
ok, if i need to research tax stuff i'll look into CBO, thanks for sharing
[2017-12-20. : 2:42 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I think his argument was also that when you align and vote for a party, and then basically that party is the one who now has all the actual power and decides what happens
[2017-12-20. : 2:41 am]
Pr0nogo -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: https://snag.gy/LaWsxm.jpg I feel like some of the stuff n the left should be in menus or something for those of us who aren't on million x million pixel screens XD
what stuff on the left
[2017-12-20. : 2:40 am]
Dem0n -- tru
[2017-12-20. : 2:40 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: FaRTy1billion parties are w/e, it's just that when dummies blindly favor shit just because it relates to their party's ideals it becomes dumb
that's exactly why they are dumb, and the kind of shit washington said would happen in w/e speech XD
[2017-12-20. : 2:39 am]
jjf28 -- Pr0nogo
Pr0nogo shouted: certainly the organizations that report and publicize the statistics are more than a stone's throw from neutral
house ways and means is a subcommittee of the house of representatives made up of politicians currently 24R, 15D, CBO is both self described (mission statement) and described by a large majority of economists and media watch dogs as a reliable, non-partisan source, tax policy center emphasizes independent fact-focused analysis, it gets rated between non-partisan and center-left by media watchdogs; economic analysis is largely voodoo, but some sources are definitely better than others

Dem0n -- FaRTy1billion

[2017-12-20. : 2:22 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- (is there a difference? or are those both just catch-all terms for non-democrat and non-republican? XD)
[2017-12-20. : 2:19 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- independents or third parties
[2017-12-20. : 2:19 am]
Pr0nogo -- seems like making monetary incentives to vote a certain way was a bad idea after all
[2017-12-20. : 2:19 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- independents are cool, except nobody will vote them
[2017-12-20. : 2:18 am]
Pr0nogo -- yeah towing the line is a real sad thing to do
[2017-12-20. : 2:18 am]
Pr0nogo -- apparently there are only 2 independents in the senate, and none in the house
[2017-12-20. : 2:17 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- like parties are cool I guess if there are a bunch of nuanced options to more accurately fit what you want or whatever
[2017-12-20. : 2:16 am]
Pr0nogo -- and obviously the only real candidates for presidency are republican or democrat
[2017-12-20. : 2:16 am]
Pr0nogo -- there's still single digit independent congressmen iirc
[2017-12-20. : 2:16 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- ya, really
[2017-12-20. : 2:16 am]
Pr0nogo -- well imo the idea that we only have 2 options is insane
[2017-12-20. : 2:15 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- in my class we read Gergio Washington's farewell address, and like 1/3 of it was talking about the dangers of party politics XD
[2017-12-20. : 2:15 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- parties are dumb
[2017-12-20. : 2:15 am]
Pr0nogo -- certainly the organizations that report and publicize the statistics are more than a stone's throw from neutral
[2017-12-20. : 2:14 am]
Pr0nogo -- just speaking broadly and based on my experience with other fields of research/statistics
[2017-12-20. : 2:14 am]
Pr0nogo -- haven't looked into any of the three you listed
[2017-12-20. : 2:12 am]
jjf28 -- I just listed two ;)
[2017-12-20. : 2:12 am]
Pr0nogo -- idk if there even is a neutral/non-partisan database anymore
[2017-12-20. : 2:12 am]
Pr0nogo -- also you may have noticed that, in general, partisan people reference partisan sources that agree with their partisan ideas
[2017-12-20. : 2:11 am]
Pr0nogo -- what are any of those proper nouns
[2017-12-20. : 2:10 am]
jjf28 -- Republicans keep referencing the numbers from House Ways and Means Committee like it's a reliable, balanced source, one had the gall to call it non-partisan, how bout pulling from the CBO or the Tax Policy Center?
