O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Pr0nogo
Pr0nogo shouted: everything is hardcoded basically
<--
[2018-3-01. : 6:47 am]
NudeRaider -- anyways, sc code has been reverse engineered. What's the problem with hard coding? Just compile your own sc.
[2018-3-01. : 6:46 am]
NudeRaider -- Pr0nogo
Pr0nogo shouted: everything is hardcoded basically
except the things that are, you know, soft coded. :P
[2018-3-01. : 6:44 am]
NudeRaider -- thekian
thekian shouted: Also, you at least got one letter of that acronym right. ;)
NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Vrael at least you got the "Protocol" right ^^
[2018-3-01. : 6:43 am]
NudeRaider -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: overcook it till it's mushy, use parmesan, etc.
a bolognese without parmesan is a crime.
[2018-3-01. : 6:42 am]
NudeRaider -- thekian
thekian shouted: Pr0nogo If by lick you mean punch.
ya, what I said: Do you think MS cares if you punch your monitor or colleagues?
[2018-3-01. : 6:40 am]
NudeRaider -- ClansAreForGays
ClansAreForGays shouted: Wait... You get by without AD?! Are you guys mostly windows? How many users?
Problem is: Windows is good. Really good actually. And easy to use, for a reasonable price. Most people are (understandably) sold at that point. Only few have other criteria that actually influence the decision what to use. Many have other criteria they like to complain about though. But since complaints without a change in buying decision don't shrink MS earnings, they only address them as much as is convenient for them. Solid business strategy imo. Poor charity though.
[2018-3-01. : 6:35 am]
NudeRaider -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: wait what's AD? LDAP is Linux Domain Authentication Protocol right?
at least you got the "Protocol" right ^^
[2018-3-01. : 6:33 am]
Pr0nogo -- everything is hardcoded basically
[2018-3-01. : 6:24 am]
UndeadStar -- it's completely hardcoded, you can tell from GPTP, both the order and recv_command use id check
[2018-3-01. : 5:10 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- It's probably hardcoded, but I'm not sure
[2018-3-01. : 5:05 am]
thekian -- That is, could it be applied to other units without overriding one of the siege tanks?
[2018-3-01. : 5:04 am]
thekian -- While you're here, do you know whether the way siege tank transformations work is hardcoded?
[2018-3-01. : 5:03 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- not a bad plan XD
[2018-3-01. : 5:03 am]
thekian -- TBH we should test all the dats anyway to make sure it doesn't break when it's hugely extended.
[2018-3-01. : 5:03 am]
thekian -- Well then, we should probably test it then.
[2018-3-01. : 5:02 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- the only limit I'm aware of is units.dat because I had to move it within SC's memory
[2018-3-01. : 5:01 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I don't see it in the topic
[2018-3-01. : 5:00 am]
thekian -- I believe the issue came up at some point; maybe when we were discussing the way DatExtender generated new image entries?
[2018-3-01. : 4:59 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- units.dat had a maximum size, I don't remember if there was one for images.dat
[2018-3-01. : 4:57 am]
thekian -- But yeah, you should make it as large as it can be, since each unit needs at least 2 image entries (1 basic thing, 1 shadow) and so on.
[2018-3-01. : 4:56 am]
thekian -- I believe you said that its maximum size was... 1150 entries?
[2018-3-01. : 4:55 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- or do you just mean make it as big as possible all the time?
[2018-3-01. : 4:55 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- is there not enough possible IDs?
[2018-3-01. : 4:54 am]
thekian -- ...Basically, extend images.dat to the greatest size you can, 'cuz you'll definitely need it.
[2018-3-01. : 4:54 am]
thekian -- So Farty, with the experience I am gaining from working with a DatExtended mod, I've discovered a great idea.
[2018-3-01. : 3:35 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- thekian
thekian shouted: Hail and well met, Farty.
ohi
[2018-3-01. : 1:48 am]
thekian -- Hail and well met, Farty.
[2018-3-01. : 1:47 am]
thekian -- Also, Pr0nogo, know whether unit morphing in the way that siege tanks do it is hardcoded?
[2018-3-01. : 1:06 am]
thekian -- Well, that'll make creating widow mines annoying.
[2018-3-01. : 1:06 am]
thekian -- Naw, that was about broodlings.
[2018-3-01. : 12:52 am]
Pr0nogo -- thought i already answered that one
[2018-3-01. : 12:51 am]
Pr0nogo -- ya
[2018-3-01. : 12:24 am]
thekian -- Anyway, anyone know if lurkers attacking while burrowed is hardcoded?
[2018-3-01. : 12:19 am]
thekian -- LDAP = Like Dem0n Attacking People
[2018-3-01. : 12:19 am]
Vrael -- LDAP = "Lets Do Authentication Pepe"
[2018-3-01. : 12:18 am]
Vrael -- let me guess - the 'u' in 'Authentication'
[2018-3-01. : 12:18 am]
thekian -- It's "Lightweight Directory Access Protocol".
[2018-3-01. : 12:18 am]
Vrael -- which one?
[2018-3-01. : 12:17 am]
thekian -- Also, you at least got one letter of that acronym right. ;)
[2018-3-01. : 12:11 am]
thekian -- Vrael
Vrael shouted: wait what's AD? LDAP is Linux Domain Authentication Protocol right?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_Directory
[2018-2-28. : 11:59 pm]
jjf28 -- overcook it till it's mushy, use parmesan, etc.
[2018-2-28. : 11:59 pm]
jjf28 -- dumbducky
dumbducky shouted: Spaghetti in general is pretty great, can't go wrong with it
spaghetti is great, but you definitely can go wrong :P
[2018-2-28. : 10:36 pm]
Vrael -- wait what's AD? LDAP is Linux Domain Authentication Protocol right?
[2018-2-28. : 10:06 pm]
Pr0nogo -- NO I MEAN LICK :SMOOCHIE: :SMOOCHIE: :SMOOCHIE:
[2018-2-28. : 7:04 pm]
thekian -- Pr0nogo
Pr0nogo shouted: most people lick them too
If by lick you mean punch.
[2018-2-28. : 6:11 pm]
Pr0nogo -- most people lick them too
[2018-2-28. : 6:11 pm]
Pr0nogo -- everyone uses windows
[2018-2-28. : 5:52 pm]
thekian -- dumbducky
dumbducky shouted: The best programming paradigm is spaghetti code imo
Yum yum, delicious Parmesan GOTO.
[2018-2-28. : 4:57 pm]
ClansAreForGays -- Wait... You get by without AD?! Are you guys mostly windows? How many users?
[2018-2-28. : 4:52 pm]
Pr0nogo -- u
[2018-2-28. : 4:30 pm]

[2018-2-28. : 4:28 pm]
dumbducky -- The best programming paradigm is spaghetti code imo
[2018-2-28. : 11:18 am]
Moose -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Mini Moose 2707 I'm confused. Isn't LDAP a protocal to access AD?
Yes, but AD is far from the only implementer of LDAP. Which is why FreeIPA or IdM would be the fair comparisons to AD, not LDAP itself. LDAP is a backend technology for these things.
[2018-2-28. : 6:45 am]
NudeRaider -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: NudeRaider And I like LDAP and bash LMAO
I'm confused. Isn't LDAP a protocal to access AD?
[2018-2-28. : 6:20 am]
thekian -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: thekian wouldn't that be WOOOP?
The object-oriented part is just one O.
[2018-2-28. : 2:56 am]
Pr0nogo -- :wop:
[2018-2-28. : 2:28 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- thekian
thekian shouted: CecilSunkure "Without Objects Object-Oriented Programming"?
wouldn't that be WOOOP?
[2018-2-28. : 12:45 am]
Moose -- Just kidding, nobody likes LDAP. For AD-ish purposes, you probably want something like FreeIPA or IdM which use LDAP for storing the data on the backend.
[2018-2-28. : 12:44 am]
Moose -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: Mini Moose 2707 I like AD stuff. simple and effective. And ps is a good tool to automate things. Syntax can be a bit tricky, but nothing that can't be solved by googling.
And I like LDAP and bash LMAO
[2018-2-28. : 12:42 am]
NudeRaider -- lil-Inferno
lil-Inferno shouted: except this weekend and not right now
lil "1v1 me later" inferno
[2018-2-28. : 12:42 am]
NudeRaider -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: power and active directory
I like AD stuff. simple and effective. And ps is a good tool to automate things. Syntax can be a bit tricky, but nothing that can't be solved by googling.
[2018-2-27. : 10:50 pm]
Corbo -- maybe I should do it on thursday
[2018-2-27. : 10:50 pm]
Corbo -- That would be a nice conversion tho
[2018-2-27. : 10:50 pm]
Corbo -- that is what I thought but it was confusing
[2018-2-27. : 10:37 pm]
Pr0nogo -- in grp form
[2018-2-27. : 10:37 pm]
Pr0nogo -- he wants the command icons from sc2
[2018-2-27. : 10:08 pm]
Corbo -- thekian
thekian shouted: Anyone know of a cmdicons.grp for SC2 units/upgrades?
What exactly do you mean with that?
[2018-2-27. : 10:08 pm]
Corbo -- We all agreed that oop is superior
[2018-2-27. : 10:08 pm]
Corbo -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: you guys better not be talking about OOP
We ended that discussion a long time ago.
