Like the first one in relation to what? There's even way more like handbreadths, fingers, etc. [2014-8-13. : 5:50 pm] Devourer -- You know, measuring sizes, when invented, it made sense to use like a foot or sth; you wouldn't have an idea of "a metre" [2014-8-13. : 5:49 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Also yards aren't even really used all that much. I think they're used in like sports, but people pretty much stick to inches, feet and miles. They tried just switching once I guess and everyone was too steadfast and just refused. Having centimeters on rulers is a remnant of that. [2014-8-13. : 5:46 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- So actually I guess people might understand centimeters, since an inch is about 2.5 centimeters. [2014-8-13. : 5:45 pm] O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Here metrics is exclusively for scientific and medical measurements. We do learn it in school, but it's so far out of common usage that if you said something weighed x grams or was y centimeters, people would have to figure out conversions to even begin to understand (such as me, earlier) [2014-8-13. : 5:45 pm] NudeRaider -- come to the light side of the force!
