[2016-8-21. : 12:36 pm] NudeRaider -- man, now I found an AMD driver that is apparently working but it kills my launcher and menu bar and I can't close programs. Apparently something about some .so files not being able to run. ![]() [2016-8-21. : 4:44 am] BloodyZombie117 -- We can ban BloodyZombie... But we need to keep BloodyZombie117.[2016-8-21. : 2:03 am] Moose -- Weird, usually older hardware is more compatible, guess that's not the case. How old is your card?[2016-8-21. : 1:58 am] NudeRaider -- the former is installed by default. Done a bit of reading and I seem to have an unlucky combination of OS and GPU version. Since Ubuntu 16 AMD's driver only supports the Rxxx and newer models, but none of the older Radeon HD series. So either I get one of the 2 available open source drivers to work or I need to start with Ub.14 until I get a newer card.[2016-8-21. : 1:49 am] Moose -- You could try installing xserver-xorg-video-radeon and xserver-xorg-video-ati from the repositories if you don't have those packages[2016-8-21. : 1:49 am] Moose -- This is beyond my knowledge. Nothing stopped working for me when I went from 14 to 16.[2016-8-21. : 1:47 am] NudeRaider -- hm. back to square one. apparently that guide is for when you cant open a desktop at all (i can thx to onboard gfx). Moose how likely is it that a driver for 14 is going to run on ubuntu 16? I think that might just be the problem... there is no driver[2016-8-21. : 1:37 am] Moose -- For what it's worth, I actually run Xubuntu, so I probably have a different desktop and windowing system. Could be a factor.[2016-8-21. : 1:36 am] Moose -- Yes, and includes clipboard, open with editor, host on ZimageZ, host on imgur options[2016-8-21. : 1:32 am] NudeRaider -- oh screenshots are cool. it automatically asks you where to save it ![]() [2016-8-21. : 1:31 am] NudeRaider -- I've found a guide that is supposed to fix it. I'm curious to see.if it works. currently reinstalling[2016-8-21. : 1:30 am] NudeRaider -- apparently what I'm experience ing is not so uncommon. although my variant is quite hilarious. It displays a garbeld view of my last windows.desktop that apparently is still sitting in the memory. But it either freezes outright or you even get a Linux mouse cursor, but nothing that you can actually click[2016-8-21. : 1:09 am] Moose -- In unrelated advice, I'd stop using the provided Ubuntu Software Center in favor of Synaptic for doing your package management[2016-8-21. : 12:45 am] NudeRaider -- Mini Moose 2707Mini Moose 2707 shouted: NVIDIA publishes video card drivers for Linux, so I've never had to fix it. AMD does too. But only for Ubuntu 12 and 14 and I got 16. ![]() [2016-8-21. : 12:41 am] Moose -- Your best bet is probably to google whatever you card is with " Linux" after it.[2016-8-21. : 12:40 am] Moose -- NVIDIA publishes video card drivers for Linux, so I've never had to fix it.[2016-8-21. : 12:39 am] NudeRaider -- Mini Moose 2707Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Should've bought NVIDIA I might just do that. But that can't be your proposed fix ![]() [2016-8-21. : 12:36 am] NudeRaider -- Dem0nDem0n shouted: NudeRaider Nice OS LMAO yeah stuff usually "just works". But when it doesn't things get ugly. ![]() [2016-8-21. : 12:35 am] Dem0n -- NudeRaiderNudeRaider shouted: Mini Moose 2707 k. thx will look into it. But I got a worse problem. My PCIe graphics card isn't working / crashes / acts weird. On board is fine. I also can't install the AMD drivers. I downloaded them and double clicked on the package which opens it with an app installer so I get to the "preview page" with a brief descripton and an install button. I press install but it's busy just for a second and then nothing. I press again it opens an installation icon on the launcher but that just sits there. Nice OS LMAO[2016-8-21. : 12:35 am] NudeRaider -- Mini Moose 2707Mini Moose 2707 shouted: NudeRaider Edit /etc/sudoers so that you can sudo without a password k. thx will look into it. Not as streamlined as MS Office, but still surpassing it on some concepts. Feature-wise it's pretty on-par, save some of the advanced stuff that doesn't matter for 95% of the people[2016-8-21. : 12:28 am] Moose -- It does the basics. If you want to do fancy shit, you have to learn it. But MS Office is the same shit. Office is probably better, tho.[2016-8-21. : 12:03 am] Moose -- Or, if you want it be required just once, configure it to have a really long timeout.[2016-8-21. : 12:03 am] Moose -- NudeRaiderNudeRaider shouted: in Ubuntu, is there a way to accept actions that need admin priviledges by press of a button, like windows UAC without having to type the admin password? Because if not that'd make me take a simple password which kind of circumvents the security background of the feature. Edit /etc/sudoers so that you can sudo without a password[2016-8-20. : 11:57 pm] NudeRaider -- lmao probably. In Linux EVERYTHING is configured in some text file somewhere[2016-8-20. : 11:32 pm] NudeRaider -- in Ubuntu, is there a way to accept actions that need admin priviledges by press of a button, like windows UAC without having to type the admin password? Then again, we did get lots of recolored versions of the official portraits, and it mostly depends on they edit, correct?[2016-8-20. : 9:32 pm] Pr0nogo -- you'll never get the same art style as blizzard's default when you use sculptris[2016-8-20. : 9:20 pm] BeatMeistro -- Yeah, portraits are quite fun to make. Making the from scratch using sculptris and rendering the model then editing some of the renders with something like IWarp can really make things interesting.[2016-8-20. : 9:18 pm] Pr0nogo -- portraits are really fun though, i just can't do them because i have windows 10 instead of xp[2016-8-20. : 9:17 pm] Pr0nogo -- recolours are nice and simple, anything else is super time consuming[2016-8-20. : 8:48 pm] jjf28 -- Congratulations, you're the 1,000,000th user to ask Excalibur to make a kit-bash! Click here to claim your prize![2016-8-20. : 8:47 pm] BeatMeistro -- Ey' Excalibur, you ever tried doing some GRP's for old time's sake?[2016-8-20. : 8:43 pm] lil-Inferno -- May as well bring back the chatroom feature that got removed for whatever reason[2016-8-20. : 8:35 pm] Dem0n -- like make it a list of recipients, and each time you click another button, it appends a new name[2016-8-20. : 8:35 pm] Dem0n -- tbh tho, clicking on multiple whisper buttons should create a chain so you can simultaneously send whispers to multiple people[2016-8-20. : 8:34 pm] lil-Inferno -- Should hire a data analyst to see if whispers are up now that there's a whisper button LMAO |
