Ahli -- Fire_Kame
Fire_Kame shouted: Ahli part of that is Germany can fit inside of Texas. Each state has a surprising level of autonomy apart from one another. I agree - income based programs would be much more beneficial. The problem is that degrading and belittling poor communities is so institutionalized, it's hard to break out of
"belittling poor communities is so institutionalized"... that should be tackled... it's impossible to achieve racial equality, if your system is f*cked up to the bones.
[2016-11-10. : 5:36 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- or, better wording, having people be poor is bad
[2016-11-10. : 5:36 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion Attempt to close the gap. Why? Because of past racism. That is an atonement.
Because having poor people is bad?
[2016-11-10. : 5:35 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: I never said anything about atoning, I said there exists a socioeconomic gap that relates to this being a thing, and this is an attempt to close that gap

O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I never said anything about atoning, I said there exists a socioeconomic gap that relates to this being a thing, and this is an attempt to close that gap
[2016-11-10. : 5:34 am]
Ahli -- Fire_Kame
Fire_Kame shouted: I really need to go to bed...sorry Ahli. You have good ideas...I'm sure that we've tried to move to income based assistance before (actually, that's the basis of FAFSA, the largest college funding program in the states, but if you live in a poorer area you may not know how to access those funds in the first place)
that's really sad
[2016-11-10. : 5:34 am]
CecilSunkure -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion You didn't just say they existed. You said that it's important to apply racist policies because past race crimes should be atoned for today.
That is nearly by definition white guilt
[2016-11-10. : 5:34 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: How is it white guilt that segregation laws existed?
You didn't just say they existed. You said that it's important to apply racist policies because past race crimes should be atoned for today.

[2016-11-10. : 5:34 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Our country was literally geographically divided by race, and those divisions still exist in some places
[2016-11-10. : 5:33 am]
Fire_Kame -- Cecil you're the only person name calling. Don't you find that sad?
[2016-11-10. : 5:33 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- How is it white guilt that segregation laws existed?
[2016-11-10. : 5:32 am]
CecilSunkure -- I know you said you didn't agree with the racist SAT policy, but you are coming off to me like a typical white guilt ridden SJW
[2016-11-10. : 5:32 am]
Fire_Kame -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: Fire_Kame that's why the system should use income instead of race... but well, what do I know... there is no racism in Germany that I am aware of, only a disparity in the social/financial status (which will grow in future because pretty much everywhere rich get richer and poor get poorer).
part of that is Germany can fit inside of Texas. Each state has a surprising level of autonomy apart from one another. I agree - income based programs would be much more beneficial. The problem is that degrading and belittling poor communities is so institutionalized, it's hard to break out of
[2016-11-10. : 5:31 am]
Ahli -- well, we have a quota for women in higher positions I believe... that doesn't make too much sense to me, but it won't hurt too much unless there are no women with decent experience.
[2016-11-10. : 5:30 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure It's historical racism from segregation laws, by being forced into ghettos with underfunded schools, that nobody bothered trying to fix
Honestly just sounds like white guilt rhetoric.
[2016-11-10. : 5:29 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: Fire_Kame that's why the system should use income instead of race... but well, what do I know... there is no racism in Germany that I am aware of, only a disparity in the social/financial status (which will grow in future because pretty much everywhere rich get richer and poor get poorer).
based on income instead of race is a good idea
[2016-11-10. : 5:28 am]
Ahli -- Fire_Kame
Fire_Kame shouted: it's all a slippery slope that starts with income disparity
that's why the system should use income instead of race... but well, what do I know... there is no racism in Germany that I am aware of, only a disparity in the social/financial status (which will grow in future because pretty much everywhere rich get richer and poor get poorer).

CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure It's historical racism from segregation laws, by being forced into ghettos with underfunded schools, that nobody bothered trying to fix
I don't agree.
[2016-11-10. : 5:26 am]
CecilSunkure -- My two points still stand; A) Adjusting scores is racist. B) Adjusting scores hides reality and makes it harder to figure out what real problems are.
[2016-11-10. : 5:25 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion I don't agree. I don't think there's any racism that prevents blacks from succeeding on a wide socioeconomic level.
It's historical racism from segregation laws, by being forced into ghettos with underfunded schools, that nobody bothered trying to fix
[2016-11-10. : 5:24 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Fire_Kame
Fire_Kame shouted: it's all a slippery slope that starts with income disparity
I agree
[2016-11-10. : 5:24 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: No, they want more blacks in school because they are a people who are still suffering socioeconomically from actual racism
I don't agree. I don't think there's any racism that prevents blacks from succeeding on a wide socioeconomic level.

[2016-11-10. : 5:23 am]
Fire_Kame -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: Fire_Kame I mean like taught content and comparable grades, so every child has approximately the same knowledge foundation and the same opportunities to advance further.
usually at a state level, yes. The problem is that if you go to some states, like down south, the income disparity is so immense there is no possible way two counties could be comparable on the same state-wide curriculum.
[2016-11-10. : 5:23 am]
CecilSunkure -- And because they are racist.
[2016-11-10. : 5:22 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure why the policy exists
The policy exists because people want more blacks in schools...
[2016-11-10. : 5:22 am]
Fire_Kame -- Dubya tried to change it with No Kid Left Behind, but that actually hurt the poorer communities more because they lost funding for not keeping up. And it hurt all schools more because everyone teaches to these national tests instead of teaching...reading comprehension or life skills
[2016-11-10. : 5:22 am]
Ahli -- Fire_Kame
Fire_Kame shouted: Ahli depends on who's counting, and how. The only national standardized tests are the SAT and ACT - if you get that far.
I mean like taught content and comparable grades, so every child has approximately the same knowledge foundation and the same opportunities to advance further.
[2016-11-10. : 5:22 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion "reason why" of what? I'm lost
why the policy exists
[2016-11-10. : 5:22 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: My argument is that you're ignoring the reason why just because it slightly inconveniences you
"reason why" of what? I'm lost
[2016-11-10. : 5:22 am]
Fire_Kame -- there's ITBS at lower grades, a lot of states use that. We have CSAP which is more reading comprehension and CoGat, which is cognitive ability. But every state has different ones
[2016-11-10. : 5:21 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure I never said I agreed with that particular policy. But I agree the issue it's trying to tackle is legitimate
Oh ok I'll take your word on that then.
[2016-11-10. : 5:21 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- My argument is that you're ignoring the reason why just because it slightly inconveniences you
[2016-11-10. : 5:21 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion No, because you think using a racist policy to prevent "whites getting richer and blacks getting poorer" is a good thing
I never said I agreed with that particular policy. But I agree the issue it's trying to tackle is legitimate
[2016-11-10. : 5:21 am]
Fire_Kame -- I didn't even take the SAT
[2016-11-10. : 5:21 am]
Fire_Kame -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: wait, your schools aren't even comparable?
depends on who's counting, and how. The only national standardized tests are the SAT and ACT - if you get that far.
[2016-11-10. : 5:20 am]
Fire_Kame -- but the question is, will you risk 5 drop outs to give one guy a chance he'd never otherwise have?
[2016-11-10. : 5:20 am]
Ahli -- wait, your schools aren't even comparable?
[2016-11-10. : 5:20 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure Is it because I said "Whites"?
No, because you think using a racist policy to prevent "whites getting richer and blacks getting poorer" is a good thing
[2016-11-10. : 5:20 am]
Fire_Kame -- but again, it starts at a lower level. You throw someone into a highly competitive university program that before wasn't able to keep up with national peers on a high school level, usually due to poor school funding which is due to the community's lower income, it's setting them up for failure
[2016-11-10. : 5:19 am]
Fire_Kame -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: I assume that poor people do better in university because they have a better motivation, they have a higher opportunity cost.
in some cases, this is true. Unfortunately one of the biggest criticisms of affirmative action is that by pushing minorities through the system based only on their race, they drop out, leaving a predominately white (and smaller) graduating class. The argument there being if they had just nulled race to begin with and gone with merit, there may have been a higher completion rate
[2016-11-10. : 5:18 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Farty you are a SJW by my definition
Is it because I said "Whites"?
[2016-11-10. : 5:18 am]
CecilSunkure -- A racist one too
[2016-11-10. : 5:18 am]
Fire_Kame -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Farty you are a SJW by my definition
ITT anyone who disagrees with Cecil is an SJW
[2016-11-10. : 5:18 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- way back in the like 70s
[2016-11-10. : 5:17 am]
CecilSunkure -- Farty you are a SJW by my definition
[2016-11-10. : 5:17 am]
Fire_Kame -- eventually you'll accidentally hit caPS LOCK AND THEN YOU'LL TYPE LIKE THIS
[2016-11-10. : 5:17 am]
Ahli -- I assume that poor people do better in university because they have a better motivation, they have a higher opportunity cost.
[2016-11-10. : 5:17 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- And not because of merit, but because of cities designed to keep black in the ghettos from way back in the segregation days
[2016-11-10. : 5:17 am]
Fire_Kame -- bro you shouldn't internet when you're angry
[2016-11-10. : 5:16 am]
CecilSunkure -- Nah it's because I'm angry and it expresses my anger
[2016-11-10. : 5:16 am]
Fire_Kame -- it's so funny, it's like a racist grandpa post unfolding
[2016-11-10. : 5:16 am]
Fire_Kame -- omg you're now capitalising RACIST like we didn't see it the first five hundred times you said it
[2016-11-10. : 5:16 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Whites get richer, blacks get poorer
[2016-11-10. : 5:16 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Ahli Then maybe the test score requirements should be dropped for everyone. But definitely not in a RACIST fashion
then nothing would be changed
[2016-11-10. : 5:16 am]
CecilSunkure -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: I assume that more people can pass in a university than there are accepted, cecil
Then maybe the test score requirements should be dropped for everyone. But definitely not in a RACIST fashion
[2016-11-10. : 5:15 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Ahli
Ahli shouted: I assume that more people can pass in a university than there are accepted, cecil
This
[2016-11-10. : 5:15 am]
Ahli -- I assume that more people can pass in a university than there are accepted, cecil
[2016-11-10. : 5:15 am]
CecilSunkure -- And massaging a test score in a RACIST fashion will not make those 12 years of prior problems magically disappear over a long-term application of RACIST policies
[2016-11-10. : 5:14 am]
CecilSunkure -- If they don't test well, they aren't likely to perform well, probably because of huge poverty problems with the first 12 years of public education
[2016-11-10. : 5:14 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure Why not?
Once someone gets to a good school they have to perform well to absorb the information, and then make good use of it
[2016-11-10. : 5:14 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: Also, the first one is racist
See FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure Because you're stuck on the first step
[2016-11-10. : 5:13 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion Nope.
Why not?
[2016-11-10. : 5:13 am]
Fire_Kame -- I wish SEN was a college and this was like a common room so Farty and I could go watch tv in my dorm
[2016-11-10. : 5:12 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: Literally going to school to get educated does not lead to education?
Nope.
[2016-11-10. : 5:12 am]
CecilSunkure -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: CecilSunkure How? Getting accepted in to college does not lead to better education?
Nope. It leads to getting accepted to a better college.
[2016-11-10. : 5:12 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Literally going to school to get educated does not lead to education?
[2016-11-10. : 5:12 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- CecilSunkure
CecilSunkure shouted: FaRTy1billion Every single arrow after the second two arrows is fantasy
How? Getting accepted in to college does not lead to better education?
