[2017-1-31. : 5:10 am]
tehkain -- Is it, like, IceCC for dat files?
[2017-1-31. : 5:10 am]
tehkain -- By the way, what exactly is DatCC?
[2017-1-31. : 5:10 am]
jjf28 -- ironically still up, 5 years after first dying, but still dead :P
[2017-1-31. : 5:10 am]
Corbo -- was it ever alive?
[2017-1-31. : 5:09 am]
jjf28 -- modcrafters wiki still dead :rip:
[2017-1-31. : 5:09 am]
Corbo -- most, if not all
[2017-1-31. : 5:09 am]
tehkain -- http://www.staredit.net/topic/17015/#13 <-- So this is your DatExtender, right?
[2017-1-31. : 5:09 am]
jjf28 -- https://github.com/bwapi/bwapi
[2017-1-31. : 5:09 am]
Corbo -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: oh, I'm thinking of bwai, bwapi is something else
they are. most of BWAPI is in the GPTP, though.
[2017-1-31. : 5:09 am]
jjf28 -- would it be in bwapi? I recall he dumped that for us for some reason
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- completely? I remmeber it moved to git at one point
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
tehkain -- There were a few threads cached on webarchive, but nothing useful.
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
tehkain -- Because a whole bunch of modding stuff for Starcraft linked to BWAI, which is dead now.
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- oh, I'm thinking of bwai, bwapi is something else
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- whichever had it
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
tehkain -- Or an API for Broodwar modding?
[2017-1-31. : 5:08 am]
tehkain -- Broodwarai?
[2017-1-31. : 5:07 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- also, http://pastebin.com/gzERVGpu
[2017-1-31. : 5:07 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: RIP Heinermann's function list tho https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40126655/Broodwar.map
is bwapi gone forever? D:
[2017-1-31. : 5:07 am]
tehkain -- I like Starcraft II, but Starcraft has a sort of charm that SC2 lacks. And, you know, non-awful-cartoony graphics. Perhaps you guys should try to start an SC1 modding revival.
[2017-1-31. : 5:07 am]
jjf28 -- RIP Heinermann's function list tho https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40126655/Broodwar.map
[2017-1-31. : 5:06 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I think modcrafters had some good stuff, but afaik they're gone or broken
[2017-1-31. : 5:06 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: You know, guys, I couldn't find any good advanced tutorials for StarCraft modding. You know, things like in-depth GRP editing, FireGrafting, AI scripting.
I think it's because a lot of the modding communities have vanished, and most of the modders with them
[2017-1-31. : 5:06 am]
tehkain -- You should try putting together a thread for people to write up tutorials which can be edited into the original post.
[2017-1-31. : 5:05 am]
Corbo -- FaRTy1billion
FaRTy1billion shouted: jjf28 Hein's done waaaaaaaaaaay more than I have. I'm pretty sure most of what I did he'd already done :P
I concur with this, and I am pro-farty xD
[2017-1-31. : 5:05 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: Do you directly edit .dat files with it?
It just loads them, but there was a DatCC program someone suggested I modify that you can either edit them as txt files or use just to expand them, and if you prefer DatEdit it's easy to modify to read them
[2017-1-31. : 5:05 am]
tehkain -- You know, guys, I couldn't find any good advanced tutorials for StarCraft modding. You know, things like in-depth GRP editing, FireGrafting, AI scripting.
[2017-1-31. : 5:04 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- jjf28
jjf28 shouted: tehkain prolly still Heinermann, we mostly still use his notes; never know tho, with farty blazing through graphics the torch might be his
Hein's done waaaaaaaaaaay more than I have. I'm pretty sure most of what I did he'd already done :P
[2017-1-31. : 5:04 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: Is it this "Expanding Dat Files" topic?
Yes
[2017-1-31. : 5:04 am]
jjf28 -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: Also, jjf28, if he's the 2nd-best SC reverse engineer, who's the best?
prolly still Heinermann, we mostly still use his notes; never know tho, with farty blazing through graphics the torch might be his
[2017-1-31. : 5:03 am]
tehkain -- Is it this "Expanding Dat Files" topic?
[2017-1-31. : 5:03 am]
tehkain -- Do you directly edit .dat files with it?
[2017-1-31. : 5:03 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I'd have linked it by now, but SEN is painfully slow
[2017-1-31. : 5:03 am]
tehkain -- Like, is it an extension to DatEdit?
[2017-1-31. : 5:03 am]
tehkain -- So, where along the line does DatExtender work, FaRTy?
[2017-1-31. : 5:02 am]
tehkain -- I googled "DatExt" and couldn't find anything.
[2017-1-31. : 5:02 am]
tehkain -- Oh, that's what DatExt is.
[2017-1-31. : 5:02 am]
tehkain -- DatExtender?
[2017-1-31. : 5:02 am]
tehkain -- Or maybe "Kerrergins".
[2017-1-31. : 5:01 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: And, well, that's gonna be a problem...
DatExtender ! I think flingies work fine
[2017-1-31. : 5:01 am]
tehkain -- I suppose I could cannabalize Infested Kerry.
[2017-1-31. : 5:01 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Neiv
Neiv shouted: Bullet flingies are hardcoded to gain +1 turn speed every frame iirc
there we go. So it is hardcoded. xD
[2017-1-31. : 5:01 am]
tehkain -- And, well, that's gonna be a problem...
[2017-1-31. : 4:59 am]
tehkain -- Also, jjf28, if he's the 2nd-best SC reverse engineer, who's the best?
[2017-1-31. : 4:59 am]
Neiv -- Bullet flingies are hardcoded to gain +1 turn speed every frame iirc
[2017-1-31. : 4:58 am]
tehkain -- For reference, it uses the venom flingy entry, with Valkyrie flingy information.
[2017-1-31. : 4:55 am]
tehkain -- Sprite and image both work, but the flingy.dat entry I'm using doesn't work with either the sprite or the battlecruiser sprite.
[2017-1-31. : 4:54 am]
tehkain -- The problem seems to be with the flingy.dat.
[2017-1-31. : 4:54 am]
tehkain -- Okay, so...
[2017-1-31. : 4:43 am]
Corbo -- You may still live
[2017-1-31. : 4:43 am]
Corbo -- ok
[2017-1-31. : 4:43 am]
jjf28 -- Corbo
Corbo shouted: unless 1st is heinnermann I doubt Farty's anywhere near 2nd best xD
well duh
[2017-1-31. : 4:43 am]
Corbo -- unless 1st is heinnermann I doubt Farty's anywhere near 2nd best xD
[2017-1-31. : 4:43 am]
Corbo -- 2nd best?
[2017-1-31. : 4:42 am]
jjf28 -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: Out of curiosity, FaRTy, what's your "position" on here? Like, are you an ancient super-modder or something? :P
2nd-best SC reverse engineer, most active programmer. and chillest staff member :farty::ex:
[2017-1-31. : 4:40 am]
Corbo -- He's so beyond that he's never really made a mod and yet, he's beyond modding.
[2017-1-31. : 4:39 am]
Corbo -- tehkain
tehkain shouted: Out of curiosity, FaRTy, what's your "position" on here? Like, are you an ancient super-modder or something? :P
He's beyond a super-modder
[2017-1-31. : 4:39 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I still say sequentially test each entry in the nonworking unit with a working unit. I don't see why bullets would have hardcoded bullet-ness (but then again, I've never looked in to it)
[2017-1-31. : 4:38 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- there's a bunch. You could always try DatExt, but I can't promise how stable it is (especially since I haven't worked on it in months)
[2017-1-31. : 4:38 am]
tehkain -- Anyway, I'll be right back; I want to see if the problem is the sprites being in weapon image.dat locations.
[2017-1-31. : 4:37 am]
tehkain -- I think I was using that already...
[2017-1-31. : 4:37 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- Unknown913 looks promising
[2017-1-31. : 4:37 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I've been here since 'Nam
[2017-1-31. : 4:36 am]
tehkain -- Out of curiosity, FaRTy, what's your "position" on here? Like, are you an ancient super-modder or something? :P
[2017-1-31. : 4:36 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- you can place any sprite (pretty much) on a map
[2017-1-31. : 4:36 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- same with the ice ones
[2017-1-31. : 4:36 am]
tehkain -- How so?
[2017-1-31. : 4:35 am]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- "Unknown Twilight" isn't a real doodad, but the sprite can be placed on a map
[2017-1-31. : 4:35 am]
tehkain -- They're doodads. But I'm calling them tileset things because that's where the grp's are.
