[2017-2-21. : 11:02 pm]
Ashamed -- which most forums do.
[2017-2-21. : 11:02 pm]
Ashamed -- ooh
[2017-2-21. : 11:02 pm]
Moose -- What I mean is they're put into the table before they click the account validation link in the email they get to complete the registration after the form.
[2017-2-21. : 11:02 pm]
Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Because Devourer added them to the users table straight away instead of doing validation first.
This makes it sound like Devourer added a bunch of test users via the database and not the validation of the form.... perhaps I misunderstood you.
[2017-2-21. : 11:00 pm]
Moose -- Nobody is added via the database. They're added when they complete the registration form. Which adds them to the database.
[2017-2-21. : 11:00 pm]
Moose -- What?
[2017-2-21. : 10:59 pm]
Ashamed -- I dont understand the reason to add users via the database then after the site was live...
[2017-2-21. : 10:59 pm]
Dem0n -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: Because Devourer added them to the users table straight away instead of doing validation first.
smh imo
[2017-2-21. : 10:58 pm]
Moose -- It was started from scratch. Doesn't mean development was complete. Or even designed well. LMAO
[2017-2-21. : 10:58 pm]
Ashamed -- You also might be able to create a good script that rebuilds the database and primary key - leaving this info out when you do so.
[2017-2-21. : 10:57 pm]
Ashamed -- My current site Im at like ID 500 already... Will I keep it this way.. No. Once the site is built and ready to go live. I will purge the database lol.
[2017-2-21. : 10:56 pm]
Ashamed -- Mini Moose 2707
Mini Moose 2707 shouted: At this point I don't even know if removing them would be a good idea because it would create gaps in the id field, which is the primary key.
Why wasn't the database started from scratch after development ha!
[2017-2-21. : 10:54 pm]
Moose -- At this point I don't even know if removing them would be a good idea because it would create gaps in the id field, which is the primary key.
[2017-2-21. : 10:53 pm]
Moose -- Because Devourer added them to the users table straight away instead of doing validation first.
[2017-2-21. : 10:53 pm]
Dem0n -- Remove that shit imo
[2017-2-21. : 10:53 pm]
Dem0n -- But why do we have hundreds of users from December 31, 1969 LMAO
[2017-2-21. : 10:49 pm]
Moose -- I guess we could add a forgot username that emails the address on record.
[2017-2-21. : 10:49 pm]
Moose -- Not really much to do about that, tbh.
[2017-2-21. : 10:46 pm]
Dem0n -- People might not remember old ass emails tho
[2017-2-21. : 10:20 pm]
Moose -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Which, by the way, a lot of people do anyways because they don't remember their old passwords
Password recovery has been working for quite some time now.
[2017-2-21. : 9:35 pm]
Ashamed -- I can't play softcore on arpg like those though ha
[2017-2-21. : 9:34 pm]
Ashamed -- I was part of poe when they were in early alpha though
[2017-2-21. : 9:34 pm]
Ashamed -- Sie_Sayoka
Sie_Sayoka shouted: path of exile :)
I like certain aspects of that game - but I really dont like the hardcore that much ha.. Too much experimenting is required in softcore first >< - I also tend to not get along with some of the community ha.
[2017-2-21. : 9:32 pm]
Sie_Sayoka -- path of exile :)
[2017-2-21. : 6:35 pm]
Ashamed -- d3 has gotten pretty easy.. I was able to solo hardcore a character this weekend without even getting close to dying ha
[2017-2-21. : 6:15 pm]
Corbo -- hey cecil
[2017-2-21. : 6:14 pm]
CecilSunkure -- I'm ready for some memes :teach:
[2017-2-21. : 6:14 pm]
CecilSunkure -- Moose what good memes do we have in store today?
[2017-2-21. : 5:29 pm]
CecilSunkure -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: I got into freaking Agar.io more than I did SC2 lolol
same
[2017-2-21. : 4:44 pm]
Zoan -- Lol, I left some notes on stuff for me to work on today. "Find a solution with decreasing energy and express your confusion." Thanks, me
[2017-2-21. : 4:41 pm]
IskatuMesk -- You have no idea how bad it is until you walk into the Galaxy and AI side of it.
[2017-2-21. : 4:41 pm]
IskatuMesk -- Sc2 is literally a cobbled together mess of stripped down middleware and old alpha code from dead projects
[2017-2-21. : 4:40 pm]
IskatuMesk -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: and overall is was a lot more complex
Complexity is not the right word. A tool can be complex and """accessible""" (I really hate that word because it gives the incorrect idea). It's called User Interface Design, something Blizzard has never even attempted to employ.,
[2017-2-21. : 4:39 pm]
IskatuMesk -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: I could never get into SC2 the way I did Broodwar. Probably because it just felt like there was no community for SC2.
It's not you "feeling" that way, that's just literally the case. There is no community, there's just a few people that make shitty dota and castlefight clones and like 2-3 people who do serious work and avoid mapster like cancer.
[2017-2-21. : 4:24 pm]
Dem0n -- Tbh the focal point of our site SC-wise should be the wiki. It has a lot of good info but its practically hidden away and hardly anyone uses it.
[2017-2-21. : 4:12 pm]
NudeRaider -- and overall is was a lot more complex
[2017-2-21. : 4:12 pm]
NudeRaider -- the editor was a pain to use, distribution of maps was a pain
[2017-2-21. : 4:11 pm]
NudeRaider -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: I could never get into SC2 the way I did Broodwar. Probably because it just felt like there was no community for SC2.
can't speak for you obviously but most people didn't get into it because it wasn't as accessible.
[2017-2-21. : 4:11 pm]
O)FaRTy1billion[MM] -- I liked how easy staredit was to get in to
[2017-2-21. : 4:09 pm]
Zycorax -- Zoan
Zoan shouted: I could never get into SC2 the way I did Broodwar. Probably because it just felt like there was no community for SC2.
The lack of national chat channels was a big disappointment for me. I really enjoyed the random banter in "Brood War NOR-1" back in the day :(
[2017-2-21. : 4:00 pm]
Zoan -- I got into freaking Agar.io more than I did SC2 lolol
[2017-2-21. : 3:59 pm]
Zoan -- I could never get into SC2 the way I did Broodwar. Probably because it just felt like there was no community for SC2.
[2017-2-21. : 3:30 pm]
zsnakezz -- they have a full website that handles all that content pretty well, and most players involved in content creation use it specifically
[2017-2-21. : 3:29 pm]
zsnakezz -- in a way that*
[2017-2-21. : 3:29 pm]
zsnakezz -- it doesn't help when blizzard actually supports starcraft 2 that make having the section a bit redundant
[2017-2-21. : 3:28 pm]
zsnakezz -- you mean all of it?
[2017-2-21. : 3:21 pm]
Zoan -- We should delete all the SC 2 stuff that no one uses
[2017-2-21. : 2:52 pm]
Excalibur -- http://i.imgur.com/BMcur.gif
[2017-2-21. : 2:48 pm]
NudeRaider -- now THAT is an issue I can get behind!
[2017-2-21. : 2:45 pm]
Excalibur -- On second thought bring in the dancing lobsters!
[2017-2-21. : 2:43 pm]
Excalibur -- Dem0n is wrong. Nude is right. Next issue.
[2017-2-21. : 2:34 pm]
NudeRaider -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: What? The nostalgia? You can reminisce without having your old account's info
it might surprise you, but not everyone is the same.
[2017-2-21. : 2:33 pm]
Dem0n -- What? The nostalgia? You can reminisce without having your old account's info
[2017-2-21. : 2:30 pm]
NudeRaider -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: They can just make a new account then. I highly doubt people who are coming back after 5 years care if they lost their post count or however minerals they had
I just gave you an example where someone (me) DOES care...
[2017-2-21. : 2:29 pm]
NudeRaider -- because with it you were insinuating the people that run SEN were idiots that can't implement the simplest fixes.
[2017-2-21. : 2:29 pm]
Dem0n -- Which, by the way, a lot of people do anyways because they don't remember their old passwords
[2017-2-21. : 2:29 pm]
Dem0n -- They can just make a new account then. I highly doubt people who are coming back after 5 years care if they lost their post count or however minerals they had
[2017-2-21. : 2:28 pm]
NudeRaider -- also I mainly spoke out against acting like it'd be a magic cure.
[2017-2-21. : 2:27 pm]
NudeRaider -- old members have a nostalgia stroke and returning to SEN might feel the same way.
[2017-2-21. : 2:27 pm]
NudeRaider -- bnet does what you suggest btw. and I dont really like it. Just like I'm not frequently online ON ALL SERVERS doesn't mean I want to lose my friend list everywhere.
[2017-2-21. : 2:26 pm]
NudeRaider -- Dem0n
Dem0n shouted: Just because it won't noticeably improve things doesn't mean it shouldn't be done
sure, I'm all for keeping things clean. But I'm not sure I like that particular measure. We could bop all the accounts that were created longer than 3 days ago but never logged in, for example. A quick look tells me that would shave off ~1000 members
[2017-2-21. : 2:25 pm]
Excalibur -- Phat butts. Phat lewt.
[2017-2-21. : 2:12 pm]
IskatuMesk -- lewd
[2017-2-21. : 2:12 pm]
Dem0n -- gave it butts
[2017-2-21. : 2:07 pm]
IskatuMesk -- what the heck did u boys do
[2017-2-21. : 2:07 pm]
IskatuMesk -- wow the site sure is slow/broken recentlyw
[2017-2-21. : 1:47 pm]
Dem0n -- Just because it won't noticeably improve things doesn't mean it shouldn't be done
[2017-2-21. : 1:47 pm]
Dem0n -- NudeRaider
NudeRaider shouted: not sure why you guys are so fixated on member counts like it'd be the magic cure. Let me tell you, it's not. How many members do we have? 10,000 ? That's a laughably low number of rows for any db engine really.
still good to have cleanup tho
