File Description
My version of The Thing.

I made it since I was a little disappointed with other versions.
Features :
1. Rounds. - no need to rehost after each game.
2. Character classes - you can be a scientist or an ordinary crew member.
3. Experience Points - after each round players get EP with which they can upgrade their characters (both the thing and humans).
4. Items: Med kits and computer discs. - Med kits 100% HP. With discs you can use security cameras.
5. Vehicles - Scientists can use vehicles.
6. Doors - Scientists can lock themselves inside rooms (aliens have to destroy a power generator to get in then).
7. Point system - If you are a human and you kill another human or base equipment, you will lose points. (The same with aliens)
8. Vision system - aliens can recognise themselves, because they share vision.
9. Heating - If someone destroys the heating system and the crew fails to rapair it, humans become very week.
10. In the end of the round, crew should be at the rescue zone to be safe and to get points.
11. Tutorial.

I've played this once on bnet with some random people (me not host). I'd like the rounds idea incorporated with experience that force people to behave corresponding to their role. As already said, this one could be done more professionally and be little more buggyless. Stable 4+. If I had voted alone I would have given 4/5 but I voted 5/5 instead to slightly lift the rating up.

This is nice, but a lot of bugs appear later in the game... People randomly become infected and such.

Though it is original, I think the overall quality can be better. That's not a huge problem though, once you become more experienced you'll easily enchance this version to make it L337. :) This one gets 4/5.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
