The Mid Autumn Festival is a Chinese holiday that celebrates the harvest and the full moon. It is also a time to give thanks to the gods and to enjoy the company of family and friends. One of the most popular legends associated with the holiday is the story of Chang E.

According to the Mid Autumn Festival Legends, Chang E was the wife of a powerful and respected ruler. One day, her husband was out hunting when he was attacked by a ferocious animal. Chang E rushed to his aid, but was sadly too late. As her husband lay dying, he gave her a magical elixir that would allow her to live forever.
