SO LET'S BACK UP A Bit. What exactly is BOTS?

A bot is a tool that aids users in performing tasks that can be automated. The majority of bots available today are chat-based, and are bundled within messenger apps. Although you may think you're conversing with a person but it's actually an automated program that interprets the words you type. Depending on which service it is attached to, the chatbot can transform what you are writing into commands that can easily be carried out.

Simply put, you can ask a bot for help - and it will do it quickly efficiently, effectively, and without waiting for a human response. Some bots can automate mundane tasks such as scheduling meetings or sending emails. Artificial intelligence is what bots rely upon. And it's our increasing skill and advancement in AI that are creating the robot revolution.

It is anticipated that when the technology develops further, bots will be able to many more complicated tasks - from filing your taxes to monitoring your work and daily routine. This is only one example of the many advancements that have been made in wearable technology and the internet of things (IoT).

Why CHATBOTS and not APPS?

We are increasingly dependent on our mobile devices as users. As technology for mobile devices becomes more powerful, our expectations rise. Downloading apps and content bundles for different services can be time-consuming and difficult. Bots let users take charge of making the experience they desire instead of needing to navigate particular products and services within the web and app ecosystem. Think of Siri, Google Now, Cortana and Google Now. Instead of navigating through piles of content or using a specific app, you request the technology to deliver the content to you.
