64x64 map. :omfg:
I like this map a lot, lots of concept was crammed into it and, in my opinion, is very interesting :) .

Notice how you have to mine out all the mineral fields so you can get to the gas. While I am speaking about this, I added a 0 mineral field to prevent terrans from floating a cc, but the pic doesnt say so.
Also notice the eggs and how workers can mine the mineral field at the opposite side and get access to the enemy base to scout.
I like how the nat is right next to the main.

Unlike most 64x64 maps, games on this map dont end early on.

EDIT: Oh, and the mineral fields blocking the third gas are 600$ each.
EDIT: The mineral fields that are used to get by the eggs are all 8$. There is 17 stacked mineral fields, so therefore they cant be mined out to prevent scouting. Unless, yknow, you want to be behind economically.

Relatively ancient and inactive

I'm not a pro or anything, but isn't this pro-zerg because of easy transportation tech and gas, which lets you get mutalisks easily?

The sword and the faith

Too tight, too small, too experimental to be taken seriously.

Too small? What does this mean? Its a 64x64 map, of course it is small.
Its not a bad thing if the map isint taken seriously, thats what makes it fun.

The sword and the faith

Well I'm just saying, it has no competitive value. Nor are any of its concepts/experimental elements things that haven't been done before.

So it isn't competitive, it isn't innovative, yeah its just another 'fun' map. :/

Crystal ridge fits this map more than skull pit..theres nothing about this map for it to be called skull pit.

So how do I get this? It looks like a fun one for me and my friend to play. Also, I'd go with Crystal Ridge

Probably a "Play.wav" crash or an invalid unit sprite

I can almost bet that one of the eggs is placed at a bad spot. Ill fix it sooner or later.

I like fun maps :P

Many of the competitive melee maps are repetitive.
The eggs blocking the units from early rush is interesting.... but it DOES exactly that .. and takes that strategy away completely :\ ...

Maybe if early rushes are possible but from a less advantageous route. Maybe the route blocked by the eggs are large and direct, while some open routes can allow entry through a easily defendable area to allow early rush strategies somewhat.
Probably not possible with this map, cause it's so small :P

You can just get rid of all the eggs and make this another blood bath.

It seems like Terran would like scv rushing since workers can get through and scvs have more hp than other workers

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
