I've seen the FRAGS map made in this size of a map without causing starcraft to crash.

I'm trying to mess around with a map with these dimensions.. And I keep crashing starcraft.

The FRAGS map was in installation terrain, but... What things will make a map the size of 20x12 crash?

None.

You need to play a regular map with default dimensions before you play one with custom dimensions. If you don't, SC crashes.

Oh ok, thanks.

When I try to create a unit with a building, the map crashes.

Is there anything I can do about that? Or will that always make it crash?

Probably because the build time for the unit is 0, that causes a crash.

Hey thanks! That worked rather well =]

[Edit] I found that the isom terrain brush is pretty buggy and crashes scmdraft often.. Rec seems to work fine though.

SDE, BWAPI owner, hacker.

A 20x12 map crashes also when using the middle mouse button to move the screen.

A map with the width of 20 will always work, but most maps that have a custom height will crash unless the previous map was played on the same tileset.

The crashing is more than likely because of the irregular height. SCMDraft and SC use a 20-width map just like a standard-width map.

This is because the compatibility of the width is more stable than the height.

If you'll notice, you can sort of make a "Wrap-around" map (Where the white box representing the screen on the mini-map goes from one side and loops to the other, if pushed enough) by using a 196x196 map.
It doesn't "wrap-around" vertically, though. Just horizontally. Put it up too far, and it will crash.

Lolwut? It'll go from left to right, hit the edge, then pop over to the left side again?
...Never noticed that...
