Does anyone know where I can find the old list for what AI scripts to run in order to cause an action by a computer controlled unit.

For example, I want a medic to blind anyone who comes within its range.

I remembered SEN having a database list of this, but I can't find it anywhere. =/

Thanks guys.

I've used medics extensively in my current RPG and I can tell you that medics will blind any unit that attacks it.
If you want to medics to blind reliably, you need to set it up where your unit will attack the enemy medic.
Also, if you have any sort of transport on the map for the same computer player as the medic,
the transport is always going to want to go pick up the medic. I don't have an AI script on my map,
yet the overlords on the map will always drift out of position and go toward the medic.

Is there any other ways of blinding units without medics through map editors? Meaning is there a property that can be changed for each unit to automatically blind it before the map even starts...if that makes sense.

no.

But you can use a "virtual blind". Turn vision off for this player for himself.
And always center a burrowed ling under his unit (low sight range) which belongs to another player he hes vision to.
Obviously works only well if the player has only few, unique units.

Terran Spells.

From the article:
Quote
For the computer to cast optical flare on an enemy unit, the unit must have at least 81 hit points, including protoss shield points. Attacking the Medic or running a Melee AI Script for the computer player controlling the Medic will cause the computer to use the spell more aggressively.

NudeRaider -- blessed innocent soul knows nothing of the strife we had before EUDs were discovered :teehee:

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
