I tried running that scrip for turning on Share Vision, but it's not working.
Here's the trigger from trigedit(I'm using SCMdraft):
Trigger("Player 7"){
Conditions:
Always();

Actions:
Set Alliance Status("Player 1", Ally);
Set Alliance Status("Player 2", Ally);
Set Alliance Status("Player 3", Ally);
Set Alliance Status("Player 4", Ally);
Set Alliance Status("Player 5", Ally);
Set Alliance Status("Player 6", Ally);
Set Alliance Status("Player 8", Enemy);
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi0", "Anywhere");
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi1", "Anywhere");
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi2", "Anywhere");
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi3", "Anywhere");
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi4", "Anywhere");
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi5", "Anywhere");
Comment("Ally and Vision players 1 - 6\r\nEnemy player 8");
}

I remember I had trouble with this before, but since the database isn't up I can't check.

You've got it mixed up. The player whose vision you want changed has to own the trigger and run the ai script. In other words, the vision is changed for the player who runs the AI script. So if you want the human players 1 through 6 to have vision to the player 7 computer you need to have a trigger for p1-6 that runs the AI script Turn on Shared Vision for P7.

Trigger("Player 1","Player 2","Player 3","Player 4","Player 5","Player 6"){
Conditions:
Always();

Actions:
Run AI Script At Location("+Vi7", "Anywhere");
}

I don't think it matters, if you add the at location you still get the same options plus many more.

Thanks, devilesk.
Khala: No, for some crazy mixed up reason, that script is only available at a location.

If Starcraft had been better designed for UMS, we wouldn't have this problem. :flamer:

Huh?

RunAIScript(Turn ON Shared Vision for Player 1);

Use RunAIScript, not RunAIScriptAt. There is no need to specify a location if you're using Anywhere.

Oh, I didn't notice that at location was there. I was just editting the trigger he posted, and I'm not sure that it would cause a problem anyway. However I've always just used "Run AI Script".

pft. Looks like I don't know what I'm doing. I checked it though, and it works either way.

I'm glad to see staredit.net is already so active again.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new :lol:
