Does This Exist?

Hey guise, I was looking for a particular kind of map and I stumbled across this forum... perhaps you can help me find it?

I'm looking forward to Starcraft 2 (who isn't?), but to be quite honest I suck at the game. I've been playing it for years, but I never really got the hang of micromanagement so I kind of hit a brick wall. I thought I could help myself out by joining some micro tournament games, but everyone is either micro pros and I get whipped, or all anyone wants to do is mass dragoons vs hydras.

Anyways, I was wondering if there was a single-player map out there designed to help players learn how to micro. For example, the game starts you off with an easy micro task, such as taking out a zealot with a single vulture, then progressively gives you more difficult micro tasks. Once you can beat the game, you're a micro pro. This sounds like something that someone somewhere along the line would have made, so I figured I'd ask you map gurus. If nobody's heard of one, would one of you be up to the challenge of making one? I know I could just play vs humans and focus on micro, but that's a really slow process. I'd like a single-player map that gives you one micro challenge after another in rapid succession to essentially maximize my micro-learning efficiency.

Anyone know if this map exists or up to the challenge of making it?

The sword and the faith

Vulture Nightmare is a great way to train. No idea where to get it though.

Thanks for the fast reply. I Googled it and came up with this: http://www.vilegaming.com/maps.x/27 but it says it requires at least 5 or 6 players. I'm really looking for something I can play by myself so it's not based off of someone else's skill level. Sorry, I know I'm being really specific...

I have a multitude of maps, but I'll get them later.

Soon, Brontobyte and I will be finished with a map that faces a computer that microes like a perfect human, so you will have that to practice on.

Untill then, here is a map to practice terran micro. (Very helpful) You only need 1 player, and you face a computer. You can fight it all day.

Impossible maps are pretty good, the ones with specific unit names, like Impossible Hydra or Impossible Ghost, I also think there's an Impossible Dragoon and an Impossible Vulture map.

I made a map like what you are asking to improve my own micro skill. Unfortunately, it's not on this computer. I'll give it to you when I can get it.

practice killing a burrowed lurker which won't unburrow. Shit's hard as hell. There's some extra levels in there too.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
