I played this map some time ago. I can not remember the name of it for the life of me even though it was one if not the best map I have ever played. The only details I can remember from the game is it requires team-work to the T. And there are added sounds to it such as footsteps and weapon reloading. I believe 2 of the maps were made as in part 1 and part 2. Part one is the start of the story in-game where if I remember correctly you goal is to kill some scientist and his creations. There is ammo and life you pick up. If I can think of any more details I will post them here but for now that is all I can remember.

No that is not it..someone when I was online suggested that game to but I know that is not the name. If someone told me the name or I saw it on some site I would remember it but sadly no site has it and the site I used to use is either gone or for whatever reason does not appear on search engines anymore. Also as far as I can tell there are no footstep sounds on Arena 51. Or if there are its not there from the start like the game I am looking for has.

I may have got the storyline mixed up with pathways into darkness as that is another one of my favorite games but I have found that one again...just cant find the other. Or if anyone happens to know the site I am looking for that would help me as that is where I found the game. Sadly last I used the site was a year or so ago..same time I last played the game. The site was much like some of the main ones you may come across that have a lot of UMS games but the one I used was much more defined on its search feature. Like if you clicked UMS it would then take you to a page that has another category to pick from for each time of UMS game. Such as Defense, RPG, melee..etc

We should start a classic map request thread right here. There were lots maps I loved that were lost when I had to defragment my computer years ago. Heres one:

I am looking for a Starship Trooper UMS map that was made back in early 2000. The File name itself was named: (6)Operation _ _ _ _ .scx
Players play as the roughnecks starting out with just 1 Raynor hero rine and 11 other rines. Right when the game starts they are right on the Zerg base being invaded with constant lings and broods. Theres a timer that generates a spawn of rines each minute. The more kills u get, the more bonus units you acquire. As players push deeper to the Zerg base, zergs counter it with massive waves of units. One infamous wave was when Computer would spam cloaked kerris and killed everyone and their buildings. To counter this, there were special crystals placed around the map that can trigger a Reinforcement wave of units.

I'd like to play this map once again. I am trying to start hosting old classic maps for kids to play.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
