Well, I thought it would be nice if a computer knew how to micro, maybe make a map a bit more challenging....
Just an Idea, So I cracked out a map in 10 or so minutes and finished with this.
1) Yes, it IS possible to Kill it. I have killed it, and I have a replay to show for it, if you'd like. (My theory is that ANYTHING can micro ANYTHING. ***
2) This "super microer" has just 2 or 3 rules to abide by, pretty simple. I know all of you can easily do this, but I don't think any of you have yet, so I did it. :P

Here's the map, Its fun to do.
(Maybe make a mass Microing computer for an insane melee game?)

Btw, If you Open this in the Normal Starcraft Campaign Editor, you'll notice that 3 units are deleted. Have no Worries, they are just start locations. Just re-place them.



*** Yes, this includes absurdities like "ZOMG, U MEEN A FIREBAT CAN, LIEK, MICRO A MUTALISK?!?!?!"
I said Anything can micro anything. Not necessarily to the point of killing the other unit, but at least causing the other player much frustration.

Yeah, I saw this a while back, except it was 10 zealots and 1 vulture, and the vulture would almost always win.. My issue is that very few other micros can be done so easily with triggers..

Ok, Well, It'll be a bit, seeing as I could use EUDs to detect the lurker shooting, then order the marines to move to the side.
In order for me to do EUDs, I have to figure out why my SCMDraft 2 ain't working. I'll make it for ya, though

you should compile like 10 micro levels vs a computer, where normally you would easily beat it's failure ai, and laugh as the computer pwns the shit out of sc players. Examples could be dark templars vs a human with scanner, and when they cast scan the dark templars retreat. via eud energy detection. Or have a player with 4 vultures micro 2 computer dragoons, (Vultures have mines) and make dragoons retreat and target mines. OR have a golaith with upgraded range out micro a human battle cruiser or something. Possibilites are endless.

Well, I am now both proud and honored to announce that me and Brontobyte are now acting as cohorts in making a new map.
In this map, there are 10 Scenarios in which you must micro to kill the enemy. Last man standing wins.
The player plays each of the 10 twice, once on each side.


If you have suggestions, or simply want to see a certain scenario make it into one of the ten slots, Give me or bront a whisper/PM. We are open to suggestions.
Suggestions must be possible to win. (No Firebats against Mutalisks, fellas.)

Possible for both sides? Even if the Dragoon is perfectly microing, the DT can still win? How? Is the goon given an Observer?

It should be possible for both sides. Either way, I doubt you could get the dragoon to micro perfectly. And yes, the goon is given an observer.

No, I didn't. Sorry, I'm quite unfamiliar with the site, and I'm not so good at navigation when I don't totally know it all.



Oh, and btw, here's the goon micro. I'm sure it would have been better, had I not been so lazy. The Goon can obviously win, if microed correctly. My friends and I were playing a test map, and gave it numerous tries. It is unbalanced in the goons favor.

i beat the zealot vs vulture one :D woo only took me like.. 12 mins :l first half was like messing around though!

lol the goon vs dt was so easy got in 1 minute first try! :D

For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically
