I really only like alittle bit of old school stuff like Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and the Sugarhill Gang, but I also haven't exposed myself to enough.
It's alittle disappointing how easily the genre tanked into really violent, macho, homophobic, sexist capitalist crap, but that always happens when big money gets involved.
All contemporary rap sucks ass. Most current underground raps are an ear sore. If you want good rap listen to these groups or rappers. Gang Starr A Tribe Called Quest Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Nas AZ KRS-One Common and many others.
Today's rap is all about money and other stupid things that no one really has an idea about. The corporation really controls them based on what makes money. So the pubic is basically musically retarded. The only artists I really like today is The Game, and the old Kanye West. I'm hoping Dr. Dre and Eminem will bring it back up, although Eminem's new promotional single, Crack a Bottle sucked ass. I did like the song Stronger by Kanye West from Graduation.

I listen to all of these.

I doubt Dr. Dre will bring it back. Crack a Bottle does suck. The lyrics are terrible! Shame on Eminem. Nas is my favorite rapper. His first album, Illmatic, is the best rap album ever. Wu-Tang is good too, but again, I think their first album is the best of all of theirs.

I agree with that. It takes some time to find the good ones.
I forgot one of my favorite rappers from Wu-Tang Clan. He's coming out with a new album called Only Built for Cuban linx II. Several of his songs are already out. I'm counting on him big time to bring back rap.
And my favorite so far with Method Man

I disagree, personally I view hip-hop as being the precursor to rap, often with different rhythmic, rapping, lyrical and composition styles, and also rap being a component, rather than the defining performance, of hip-hop, which often has back-up bands and musicians, a dj beat-matching and scratching, etc., with generally a higher degree of musical interplay (as opposed to rap artists who are performing over sample tapes and who only mix in another rapper, which is such a tired old trick).
I am really not a fan of rap at all. But I've liked some Eminem in the past. I don't expose myself to much of it. Some of the popular songs that they play at dances are better than just tolerable. Recently I've discovered that I like some Afroman and Wu Tang stuff.
I hate Immortal Technique, except for his song Dancing with the Devil. He might be a political rapper but his freestyle sucks and he's pretty overrated for an "underground artist".

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.
Symmetry shouted: Ohhh imagine a SC map that could delete itself
not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
