Just a quick Idea, i was thinking about EUDs, and wouldn't it be possible to read like.. Player 1's name, and then use it in a text message in game to make it seem like he is saying something???
Might be good for a comedic part of a map or something... or maybe to create difficulty in an Impossible???

You'd run out of strings.

So you cant like... convert it into a variable somehow? Like the character value into custom scores, kills, resources and what not??
Use that to type it in kinda thing?????

If you can find a way to add two strings together, that'd be awesome, but it's not possible. Try this trigger, and you might see the problem...

Conditions:
Always
Actions:
Display text "A"
Display text "P"
Display text "P"
Display text "L"
Display text "E"
Preserve Trigger

That pretty much sums up why a variable system won't work, unless there is a way to get the letters to print on the same line...

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
