Basically, the player gets beacons for each player, and when they go to that player's beacon with their civilian, all their units are ordered to attack to that player's base. So the trigger action would be Order.

Thanks for taking your time, but SCMdraft complains that there is an error when opening the map :(

Do you have sc running? If so... thats probably it since it cannot open a file that is being read by sc.

I'm going to display it in trigger form, although I hoped Falkoner said it so that you get it. If not, here you go..

Trigger
Players

  • Player 1
  • Conditions

  • Current Player brings at least 1 any unit to 'Beacon'. ( Beacon is where you will bring the civilian to mass. )
  • Actions

  • Issue order all any units owned by Player 1 at 'Anywhere' to 'Player #" ( The player is whoever you want to mass when the civilian is on that beacon. )
  • Preserve Trigger

  • EDIT: A lot of typos.. sorry.

    Hmm thanks!
    The trouble is that my map features heroes and later on custom units that youll have to micro wisely to be successfull, and youll be wanting to micro the mass units as well, so you dont mass em right into an enemies well placed Psi storm for example :P

    Lol scmdraft and it's recycling of strings...

    Oh and don't bother with it I took "mass" diferently, as in without the beacon. I suppose ur making a Helms Deepish map

    Yeah kinda like helms. It's not hard to make it so the heros don't mass.

    Trigger("Player 1"){
    Conditions:
    Bring("Player 1", "Terran Civilian", "Mass Red", At least, 1);

    Actions:
    Order("Player 1", "Zerg Zergling", "Anywhere", "Red Area", patrol);
    Order("Player 1", "Zerg Hydralisk", "Anywhere", "Red Area", patrol);
    Order("Player 1", "Zerg Ultralisk", "Anywhere", "Red Area", patrol);
    Preserve Trigger();
    }

    //-----------------------------------------------------------------//

    That way only your basic units mass. The above would be an example of a "sticky masser". As long as your civilian is one the beacon, your units will be ordered to attack. To make it not "sticky", add the following:

    Move Unit("Player 1", "Terran Civilian", All, "Mass Red", "Mass Return");

    That way it will only order attack once, and move your civilian back to the middle area. Also, use patrol, it works better than attack.

    Use patrol? What are you on man? That makes them go back and forth (and they eventually mess up)

    When you use attack order your units may pass the enemy without attacking until fired upon.
    Patrol order makes them "shoot on sight".

    You are right, if the target for the patrol order is somewhere where no enemies are they will return. Another mass order (civ on beacon) will "fix" that. But if u ask me I have seldomly seen units return. Usually they all die ;)

    Also you could add an extra trigger that tells every unit in the target area to patrol to target area. But that works only well without hypertriggers. Since attacking would become very sticky.

    Or you make two masser. One for patrol order, one for move order.

    So your choice. ;)

    When you use an attack trigger with a human player, they will attack on sight. For example, if you're playing a melee game and you order to attack at a certain position, they will fire when seeing an enemy.

    What NudeRaider is talking about is for a Computer player. When ordered to attack for a Computer, they will only attack units that attack them. If you use patrol for a Computer player, they will attack on sight, but will still move back and forth unless the order is changed at the destination.

    The trigger that moneylover said works perfectly fine, although you might want to have the Civilian (or whatever unit you're using to activate the mass attack) to be teleported (or Moved) to a nearby location so the player doesn't have to move on and off the beacon manually. Just saves energy.

    Of course, if the player wants to keep sending in troops it's annoying to keep having to move it onto the location.
