I wish they'd just release the god damn game and patch it up later.

With new units? Upgraded graphics? Now that's something new I'd see from Blizzard.

They're releasing a lot more unit facts on the forums, but yeah, some updates to the website would be nice.

They, also, have to finish making the single-player campaign, cutscenes, etc..

The programming part shouldn't take too long. The artwork and animation of everything is probably what is holding everything up. It can take up to like 9 months to make just 6 seconds of an action sequence of an in-game video. Some videos in warcraft were more than a minute. How long did those take to make?

Christmas and New Years should have some interesting updates.

And making the cinematics and the game engine use same engine makes it shorter.

Blizzard hasn't updated their starcraft 2 website for awhile, but their probably done with most units and working on balancing as they said they were 1/3 complete with campaign in July, and by the end of 2008 they'd have more to show us, + the've been working on changing abilities and such for balancing reasons, and battle.net 2.0 and the editor, but if it goes beyond February or March then they'd be taking too long....

They just updated the site last week.

Woah

I saw it in one of those "Coming Soon" binders at GameStop. I'm trying to see if there's anything about it online.

GameStop's site just has it for pre-order with no date. And some random website claims to have some leaked info about it.

I suppose I can ask my co-worker if he knows anything about it, but I doubt it since he's only connected to the cinematic department.

It's a proven fact that Gamestop doesn't know shit about release dates.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
[2026-6-20. : 6:15 pm]
Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.
[2026-6-20. : 3:43 pm]
NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new

Oh_Man -- makes me wonder if SEN knows anything about the topic
