I've been trying to figure out how to place unfinished buildings in my maps, but I can't find anywhere that tells me how.

Disabled Sprites of Terran buildings usually make them half-built, any other race it isn't possible. Note that some of them have weird things like flashing lights, and the missle turret is half-built but has a turret on top.

Remember, you are able to walk through them. That is one factor you must account.

yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.
