I don't have the patience to draw up a long post detailing all the flaws and inconsistencies of Temple Siege. To paraphrase, it is not a fun or entertaining map. The only real merit it holds is in it's competitive value. There is nothing impressive about it.
You don't have the patience? That's the kind of dodging you've been doing the whole time. What's interesting is that you don't have the patience to draw up a long post, but you have the patience to continue dodging and refusing to do that when you could have easily turned that effort into actually detailing some flaws. Then your criticism would actually be useful to mapmakers and whoever plays the map.

We're not even asking you to draw up a long post. You refuse to say even one specific flaw about TS. You're making a mountain out of a molehill and then complaining that you don't want to climb up that mountain which is really a molehill.

The probe surfing part is original, but gets boring quickly.
Lol, he said he got probe surfing from my mini-game, the hurtle jump. He said it himself xD

Well then that makes the concept unoriginal and detracts, in my view, the argument that he's the best mapper. :)

Oh and since it's your idea that means its +1 for mill as best mapper.

Every time I give it to you, you refuse to see it.

"It is not a fun or entertaining map. The only real merit it holds is in it's competitive value. There is nothing impressive about it."

That's just as detailed what you provided in your belittling of Rush, Elementa and Azala's maps. The terrain in Temple Siege is disjointed and the flow is terrible. There is little balance between classes and are many bugs. The map is not visually pleasing and does not look professional and the Gateways are often not even worth getting. The spells are cheesy and many aren't worth going for.

Now tell me Devilesk, what makes Temple Siege so godly.

How should I know? You think I like TS or something?

Anyway I think the fact that you say that its competitive value is its only merit directly explains why the map is good. As long as the map has good gameplay and competitive value that's all that matters. People can easily overlook things like terrain. When has a map ever been fun to play solely because of its terrain? On the other hand, even if the terrain sucks the map can still be good.

The competitive value that you acknowledged is there means that TS is not overrated. It's not like TS is getting praised for its awesome terrain or anything. It's always focused on its competitive play and been rated for its competitive value.

I think the big problem is that you dissed the map twice in this thread (quotes: "Best map: not temple siege, that's as fun as grinding my balls in a blender" .. and "Most overatted map: Temple Siege") ..
...Yeah... if u put it that way, obviously people are going to pin you down for that =_='

But I've discussed that in my rant in the general SC discussion "Let's talk about the AoS fad" ...
It is true that TS has glitches n bugs, but it hits the sweet spot where it is accessible, but is still complicated for those who wants to dive in. Of course, it can also be viewed as "only good competitively" (but aren't all games like that? lol) But it is also true that people have their own opinions, and make really crazy, over the top complicated maps because they like to make these maps.

I think the difference is at this: In making maps, I aim to please the pubbies, and have fun while playing my map. Of course, others will make maps to challenge others (bounds/impossibles), to express their new concept (mini-games/puzzles), or to simply make complicatedly triggered map (ex: astrogears, spellsword rpg). So in this case, I have achieved my goal, which is to make my map popular. It is true that there's a lot going on about my map, but that's exactly what I was going for, and I have simply achieved =D. Every mapper makes their maps in their own unique way, so next time, don't say it's as fun as grinding ur balls in a blender ^^ ... because I would then say playing something like Five Triggers is as painful as saccing myself with a hammer.. (ouch?)

In the mean time, let's stick on topic.
err..
Yeah.. Azala's maps are really cool at first :P. Again, like MA, he has the talent to create new innovative, yet simple maps ^.^... Self Defense was awesome. But for me, it just doesn't WoW me as much as Rush or Mini-game party did.

That's why I like my maps. They are good pub maps and are fun to play, but they are also good from a mapmaking standpoint.

Hah, fair enough. Five Triggers is just something I made for a two hour mapping contest, meant to challenge the map making crowd a bit. A nice, short different kind of puzzle.

Just so you know, Devilesk (or I, if I were still posting) would've backed off if you said this ten posts earlier. Devilesk doesn't even like Temple Siege. :P

I would like to make a public apology to everyone I insulted in the post Dapperdan deleted. I was being stupid, annoying, noobish, and several dozen other negative adjectives. I can't believe I said that.

Well, that's not true, I can believe I said that. But I still shouldn't have said it.

I have problems at school with people being incredibly sarcastic with fake compliments all the time, and it has left me paranoid about sarcasm. That is still no excuse to insult seven random people, one of whom is a moderator.

I take back what I said totally, and feel really stupid now. For good reason.

Dec 25 2008, 4:46 am Biophysicist Post #237

If you must know, I called all the people who voted for me for Best Noob of the Year "retarded sarcastic fucktards" and stuff along those lines, because whenever someone compliments me it is actually a sarcastic insult that they think I won't realize is such, and it has left me depressed and paranoid about compliments. For example, when Kaias just voted for me for Best Noob, my first thought was "He's just jumping on the bandwagon to insult me", which now that I've calmed down a bit seems stupid. Now lets stop talking about this?

EDIT: Apparantly Kaias edited that thing I was using as an example out of his post for some reason.

Honestly, people are voting you that because you're the best / most interesting recent addition to the team. Nobodies being sarcastic or trying to be slanderous. A simple misinterpretation.

EDIT: I edited it out before you put it in your example, btw.
