The sword and the faith

Thought you guys might enjoy getting a chance to take a shot at me for once. This is my newest map, (2)Clutch. As with most maps I've been making these days, I'm trying to incorporate some experimental elements into it. The nats mineral back door is a feature I've been trying to work into a map for awhile now, but as you can see, it usually makes the nat come out in an awkward shape. This is the best I've gotten it so far. Most expos are very easily harassed, which I think will help compensate for the lack of open battle ground. Can't produce what you don't have the cash for. Enjoy.

Hello

Siege tanks easily can kill the workers from the expansion in the middle...
also mutalisks can.... you should make more space for turrets etc.

Part of the concept is the easy harass. Also, the mid route is very early game only. You shouldn't be using it by the time tanks are rolling out. Take down the Xel Nagas or go with some air.

I can only say, its really not practical for competitive gaming. But hell it would be good just for having some fun. Like owning the hell out of Ex.

None.

Dungeon Master

The problem with that concept is that it means that there is 0 room for turrets, meaning an extremely easy muta harass. And there's a lot of unbuildable ground on the map, and IIRC isn't that bad for terran?

Yeah, I personally don't like rocky ground that much... Maybe you could put some mud here and there?

Yes, but it isn't overly open or have much flanking, so T needed some hurt.

Advanced deco (On a Testbug / Crackling level) will come if I finalize the map and deem it worthy of such attention. Right now its just a fun map, but perhaps I can balance the concept further. I don't know, I'm just going on tips right now.

same.. but isn't it a bit waste of space?? only small cliffs at start-locations

all expansions can be easy attacked by Zerg...

Expos can be easily attacked by anybody. I feel a lot of the newer maps these days make expos too protected and easy to defend. Fight for your money.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
