The sword and the faith

New, experimental semi-air map. Mains are awkward but I'll probably remake it soon with better mains and formations.

Dungeon Master

Kinda screams 'kekeke zergling rush' to me. The mains seem really, really, really, really close.

Also, very minor, but in front of purples mini ramp, the doodad obstructs a lot more than with the other bases.

It looks like a fun map to own you at Ex.

Hello

if these grey spots at each main, showing to the middle of the map, are the ramps, it is to easy to block; terran camping x3
the terrain looks good, but its to much a air / drop fight; main base -> ramp -> exe the exe can only be attacked by air, drop, or by walking across the main....
its not my favorite, sry

You could unit block them, however un-buildable terrain makes wall-ins impossible. And you have yet to say why air/drop maps are 'bad' or in any way inferior to ground maps. Just look at Erebos: http://www.panschk.de/mappage/(4)Erebos.jpg

edit: cant block here... didn't see it at the first look, sry

why bad? hard to rush... and at this map; its almost impossible to "rush" his exe, and thats .... crap?

The sword and the faith

Not impossible at all. And rushes might be a little strong but when I remake it I'm going to redesign the mains a bit better.

I was going to bitch about mid not being buildable but then I read this and you say that it was to prevent blocking, well, guess what, I blocked Baja's AI in this :P
The top left main can be blocked with a bunker. So it allows you to do the load unload to bunker trick to zealots and goons get confused til death and you don't need to create a huge wall just to pwn them.
Might wanna fix that.

Also, the bottom right small ramp kinda makes my units walk funny.

fuck you all

I would think rushes would be underpowered on this map, since the small ramps give you a free choke.

You're going to have to sacrifice workers to block it against early pools, though...

Hello

new one looks great :)
but, sorry for all my negative posts, at the start-locations, some cliffs are just a line... should be more naturally with some edges
nice "islands" at the middle left/right/top/bottum

I think this layout itself just isn't made for any kind of play but messing around.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
