Scmdraft Problem

My map wont save after I try to add a trigger, it keeps telling me "something bad happened" and asks me if i would like to save it in a "diagnostics" file. Is this scmdraft or did I screw up somewhere in my triggers? It's pissing me off at the moment because I can't continue my map.

Hmm.. the "something bad happened" usually happens (for me anyway) when it gets laggy and start clicking too many times. But there are times when it just suddenly occurs, usually random. Post the map? Maybe someone doesn't get the error. It's hard to say what the problem really is.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

Delete the database files, if scmdraft is near 2 gig. (already had that 3 times)
If that files are still small, answer the following question: Do you have more than 30.000 triggers? (not many experience that bug.... how often do you put 30k triggers in a map?)
if the answer is yes, I have no solution for you. :(

Or maybe you just gone over the string limit?

It's only reached 1.8MB I don't think I've maxed out on triggers yet.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

you can't max out on triggers. Strings are finicky. It tends to crash with practically nothing in the string section. (even if you have 600 strings using a third of the total space).

Your trigger text is 1,8MB? That sounds to me like you could just have reached the 30k trigger mark. Use MS Word or Notepad to replace "trigger{" with anything. It will tell you how often it got replaced. Then you know how many triggers you have.

SCMDraft 2 0.8.0b

This is the newer version of SCMDraft 2 0.8.0. This version fixes a lot of the corruption and it may help stop your problem. :)

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
