About
Well, I have searched far and wide for the perfect avatar to use for all my internet going applications. So far I have found something close to a squirrel and a milkshake for a basis on my new original avatar design. Basically I would like to see some suggestions for what the basis of a TRUE avatar might be, and also the steps to be partaken to make such an original godly avatar.
I am open to ideas and samples of your own ideas, pictures and original avatars.

Objective
The goal of this project would most likely to set a mostly firm standard for all avatar making in the future, so any avatar that might not conform to these rules would be considered un-godly??

Well i suppose the answer would just be artistic.

It depends on your own personal preference. One person might see an abstract mess, while another may see a visual masterpiece.
The key is to find a midpoint. Something that everyone likes. I suggest something with 1) high quality 2) interesting colors that go well, and 3) depth.

The avatar that I'm using right now is original, and I think it looks pretty decent.

An avatar is a means of visually communicating something about yourself -- What you like, what you find funny, what you've observed, etc. In my case, it's a portrait of a unit in my mod, communicating what I'm working on. Applying standards will always be subjective opinion.

I don't have a good avatar, but i think to add to the Godliness of the avatar, a matching title and signature can help.

IIRC, that was a portrait he used in SCTF. So I'm guessing he meant it was part of that mod.

Yes, the portrait is of the HW Guy from STF. However, I am working on a completely new version of STF, featuring all three races that were planned and many, many changes and unique gameplay features. I think you guys will like it, but I won't be announcing anything until I am much further along in development.

Just here for the pie

Hmm, since your name is steacoon, your avatar should be a steel raccoon?

Just Here For The Pie

Whenever I want a new avatar, I just take a picture of myself doing something.
There is also times when I draw something and I think it would look good at a size of 125x125.

My current avatar is a picture of me, but I did not really have much going on in the picture.
At the time I was experimenting with color differences in Macromedia Flash 8 so I beefed it up.
I think it looks cool. Some of my friends also think it looks cool so a made their avatars like mine too, but with their head shots instead.

Relatively ancient and inactive

My avatar reflects whatever ideology I currently follow. Or an icon representing myself. Or something I found funny. Currently, I'm in the process of expanding boatianity. Join me, will ya'?

The only way for an avatar to contain power that is most Cthulhu-like is for it to contain Deerwhale.

I think that would actually contain large amounts of win.

Mercenaries 2020 | Mercenaries III
Squad Defense

Legacy Projects (No guarantee of functionality in modern SC):

My avatar and signature consist of four different GIF animations. All of them have the same amount of frames and all of them are the same dimensions. Better than any still, lifeless shiny ninja head. ;o

My avatar is my ideal person for my gang. We are armed with a spatula and a pan lid!

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Avatars should be made to reflect upon the user. For example, FatalException's avatar, while crude, fits him perfectly by expressing his like for that one ninja emoticon. On top of this, it provides a simple way to help identify the user other than looking at the name.

My avatar has developed over the years as my gimp skills have improved. As rockz, I've always had some sort of bender avatar, and the animated gif has steadily increased in frames.

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
