Alright, my concept is having a DA moving around with 8 wraiths following in a grid system,
4 players each controlling their own DA / wraiths moving around a jungle or so terrain.
When you MC a wraith, according to the direction that its located from your DA, the wraith
will act as a missile and fire off into the direction you chose etc. About six different types of
missiles you can shoot (scourge, wraith, valkyrie, scout, mutalisk, and corsairs). Each missile having
different effects (Scourge acting as a shot gun type) So basically a gun brawl and all i need is a
theme! I've got some ideas listed below and just need some feed back

(1) Twisted Metal - Perfect for missile and rocket damage brawls
(2) Terminator - Guns can be crazy idk
(3) Transformers - thinking about a way to make you transform into something neat
(4) Bot wars - just robots going at it
(5) Duke Nukem - Big guns, big attitude

haha that sounds funny.

I like Duke Nukem, fat slow puff balls moving around and shooting eachother sounds more like that than any of the other options in my opinion.

Bonelesskid made something similar way back in the day. Once you get past the originality of it, you realize there are better firing systems out there.
(For instance in this system, what happens when players get near one another.. Uh Oh, unit misplacement.)

I suggest burrowed zerglings instead if you're gonna do it like this.

Even that has it's disadvantages. Here's a quick tip: You can't really target a unit grid while it's moving, your unit will stop to target.

Why not have it display a couple seconds after the unit hasn't left a location following it? It works pretty early, and you could also easily ensure no players are close enough to bungle the whole thing up.

Burrowed zerglings would require your entire map to have flat terrain with no boundaries or unwalkable squares.

Then use the wraith when the zergling can't be there.

This is a different discussion dude, that was about the grid idea, this is about the theme

So you already have the free-aim shooter concept accomplished? If so, then disregard my post.

Go with your own theme.

Besides, that way you aren't making anyone unhappy for disgracing their greatest fanboyism. Not that that really matters anyway.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[04:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
