The sword and the faith

One of my attempts at rotational symmetry. Has quite a few problems, but it had been sitting on BMWN forever half finished, and I finally sat down and finished it. Although it does have problems, I still think its an ok for-fun map, but if anyone has any ideas on how to fix the issues (Tankable nats, no room for more expos) without drastically changing the map design, let me know.

Dweb near cliffs. Put nat further back. Remove half the doodads so it doesn't clutter. Actually, make this a (2) 1v1 map. It would be a better choice.

The one thing I DIDNT want to do is make it a (2) map. I really like the design. =/

Why would you put a dweb on a map? :0_o:

Also, I think that having the same exact terrain on both sides of the map is unoriginal. You should try and spice it up a bit.

That's comparable to being the best hockey player in Ecuador.

Speaking of warboards, what happened to it? Is it dead because the site doesn't work for me?

None.

No, it still works. It's just that sometimes the site gets zerglings in it's system and it takes a while for AJ to fix it.

I'm certainly not qualified to determine if it's balanced, but it certainly looks interesting. I'm wondering why BeDazed recommends 1v1 only... One thing I see is the fact that the nats are so close to an expansion... seems a bit scary, mineral line or not... maybe siege/float issues. And, maybe it's not a huge deal, but having the nat's be lower than the outside terrain seems a bit scary too.

I certainly think it'd be fun to play, at least. I do think that (if 4 players) the idea of a 2nd expansion near you air-wise but far ground-wise is kind of interesting. Island but not. And the possibility of attacking a nat via ground with it...

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
[2026-6-21. : 4:25 am]
Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings

Ultraviolet -- Yeah he's talked about a lot of that stuff in his casts before. It seems plausible. Especially knowing how Blizzard of yesteryear operated.

NudeRaider -- to clarify: couldn't recall the behavior for every single Protoss building but I was aware the disparity exists.

NudeRaider -- Contained nothing new for me. Didn't know all building's behavior, but very much all unit's. Also Terran balance whine - also nothing new
