I am confused and don't remember ever having problem with this... I am sure I am missing something obvious I can't think of right now...

Happens to everyone. I accidentally deleted a player's start location once and wondered why it didn't show up for the party.

BTW it's an easy mistake to make but thankfully we have the Ctrl+G keystroke to help us out.

Trial and error... mostly error.
