Debugging maps

Hello, me again.
I am a little bit annoyed whenever im testing a map/triggers. Cause after i started SC - "played" the map - made changes in SCMDraft - and save them - every second or third time im trying to save the edited map it says me that im not able to save the map. I guess it has to do something with temporary access of SC to the map.

So i could either save the map under a new name or restarting SC. Maybe this sound a bit lazy but is there any possibility do not do so? (sometimes im only adjusting little things so that even 3 or 4 savenames are not enough while SC is running)

You just have to leave the game in SC. Once you're in or past the score screen, you'll be able to save the map just fine.

Yea Roy i know that im not able to save a map while playing it. But the issue is there after playing the same map 2 or three times even after the score screen - doenst matter if im on bnet or testing in LAN

The 1.18 patch introduced this problem. There's nothing you can do except either map with 1.16 or wait until Blizzard fixes it.

Yeah, recently figured that out. The most annoying bug in the world. It also appears that the current version of SC locks the map after the second time that you play it. That's really dumb :hurr:

Some.

So sad
Then i will have to continue working on my four savenames and restarting SC every 8th time :teehee:

You can also close and re-open StarCraft to unlock the map.

Yes, Mimose mentioned that in the OP already. ;)

NudeRaider -- EUD actions, specifically. The conditions remained. Today we can even have actions again, but they're all virtualized/whitelisted (not sure on the actual technical implementation) so you can only use them for specific intended purposed, not arbitrary code injections.

NudeRaider -- I mean yes, maps - through EUDs - were theoretically able to do that as well, but that was patched quickly.

not the map, the editor

Symmetry -- I vaguely remember Voy doing some ACE back in the day, but I had no idea EUDs could do that kind of shit. I am very much catching up on the technology

Symmetry shouted: NudeRaider Is EUD editor capable of writing shit onto the player's harddrive? That seems like it would be dangerous
yeah an editor that isn't allowed to write files sounds rather pointless, so I'd assume it can. Like most other programs too btw. and yes, obviously that's dangerous, but also kinda necessary. MS introduced that virtualization for exactly that reason.

Ultraviolet -- I don't think so. I think they shut that shit down after 1.16, maybe even earlier
