Starcraft and Brood War Patch Information

Feature Changes

- StarCraft and StarCraft: BroodWar no longer require the CD while playing the
game. To play without the CD, please follow the following instructions:

- Windows Users:
- Make sure you have "Hide extensions for known types" unchecked under
Explorer Folder Options.
- If you own only StarCraft, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft CD to
your StarCraft folder and rename it to "StarCraft.mpq".
- If you own StarCraft: Brood War, copy "INSTALL.EXE" from the StarCraft:
Brood War CD to your StarCraft folder and rename it to "BroodWar.mpq".

- Mac users:
- If you own only StarCraft, copy "StarCraft Archive" from the StarCraft CD
to your StarCraft folder.
- If you own StarCraft: Brood War, copy "Brood War Archive" from the
StarCraft: Brood War CD to your StarCraft folder.

A built in no-CD crack, okay. How about fixing the exploits, bugs, and hacks now?

But seriously, after every patch that fixes hacks, melee dies down for a couple weeks/months.

Then how come I'm not dling it when I enter B.Net? And my game still says 1.15.1?

Woops! Sorry about that! That's hilarious! It's updated in East, but not West, so I was able to connect without updating.

If you're a modder you will get it?
Why's that?
If you're a REAL modder you don't care what blizzard does

wtf is the point of this? And I thought West was supposed to be Blizzard's testing grounds. :C

This is epic win for non-modders... how come it isn't on blizzard page, sc support, or any other site though? Or other servs...

so i updated, its telling me to go for technical support when i try join west wtf?

It doesn't exist on West...

Um.. the mac part is wrong. That won't work. What you need to do is:
Insert Starcraft or Brood War CD
Open Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utillity.app)
Select "Session 1" ontop of "Brood War CD" or "Starcraft CD"
Click "New Image"
Save As: "Brood War CD" or "Starcraft CD"
Image Format "Read Only"
Encryption "None"
Press Save

May take a while to create.
When it is done, eject your disk. Open the Brood War.dmg, and load starcraft. YAY!!

...Have you tried to do what the patch notes say?, because it has nothing to do with creating an image.

Lol, after dling the patch I can get on East but not west; it gives me an error.

Guess that's one more reason why East > West

Nice, my CD drive has been taking like 10 minutes to load BW every time I put it in. This'll be more convenient.
Because a butt load of poop is way better than a handful of gold.

This works for everything, not just starcraft and a silly patch.
