My own spawning problem.

k. I'm making a map.

I have 4 different spawn locations for enemy units. Spawn 1, Spawn 2, Spawn 3, and Spawn 4.
I have 4 different players in my game. Player 1, Player 2, Player 3, Player 4.

I want only Spawn 1 to spawn units when Player 1 is present.
I want only Spawn 2 to spawn units when Player 2 is present.
I want only Spawn 3 to spawn units when Player 3 is present.
I want only Spawn 4 to spawn units when Player 4 is present.

When I test the game by myself as Player 1, all Spawn locations will create units. Even when players 2-4 are not present.

The trigger is:
Trigger
Players

  • Player 7
  • Conditions

  • Player 1 commands at least 1 [men]
  • Elapsed scenario time is at least 120 game seconds
  • Actions

  • Create 20 Devouring One at Spawn 1 for Player 7
  • Wait for 120000 miliseconds
  • Preserve Trigger
  • Comment

  • And so on for Players 2-4.

Could it be because I have this trigger set for Player 7, and it's determining whether or not Players 1-4 are there? Or something?..

I need help. Thanks in advance.

make those spawning triggers for players 1-4 separately, so they will only execute if that player is present.
or have a trigger for players 1-4 that adds 1 death to DC1 for that player at the start of game
and make those spawning triggers execute only if that player has suffered a death of DC1

Again, another one of my questions answered by Someone. Thank you. =)

The easiest solution is what someone09 said first. Because you only need to give the triggers to P1-P4 and delete the first condition.

But I wonder... it should work as it is. Do you have another trigger that is owned by a comp that creates units for the specific players 1-4 (instead for Force1)?
Because that would result in creating units for "ghost players" that are neutral hostile. And it is possible that they are detected by [men] of P1-4.

I tell you this because you should learn to avoid those ghost player units. The solution is simple: Never use an action like create 1 marine for player 1 and copy it for 4 players. Always use forces or let the players own those triggers and use current player.

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?
