Terran sprites have a tendency to crash when you do stuff like this, but some may work.

First thing, you have to start out with a disabled sprite, now, here's a list of units and what their sprites do once disabled, and how to do it:
http://Falkoner.CoW.GooglePages.com/Disabled_Sprite_Effects.html
Now, if a unit crashes the game immediately, then that won't work, but if it just creates a rock sprite then crashes when looked at, it might work. Once you manage to get a unit like that, place it inside a location, with it disabled, then have a trigger that Enables the doodad state of that unit. Then order the unit to move. That should make the unit just like any other unit, except it is walkthroughable now. Now to cloak it, disable the unit, enable it, then enable it again, then order it to move and it should work. Make sure to have a small wait in between each of the disablings/enablings. That should cloak it, if it doesn't crash.

Now. what about DarkSwarms? can i DS sprite be preplaced and moved around as needed? or will it disipear? and will it have it's normal effects on units under it?

edit: And about disabled/cloaked terran beacons. i have it claked and redy.. but is there any way to senter it on my unit? and because it's a srpite, and it stack under my unit in small path ways?

edit: edit: AND!!!!!!! lets say i get a zerg drone to be enabled. sence i can walk through it. it shouldn't mess with any units walking over it while it is constantly centered under said unit. BUT, is there any way to "burrow it?" with out human assistance.

edit: edit: edit AND AND!!!! fuck... why don't enemy comp meds blind sprites? they blind normal units when seen. but not sprites.. is there anything i can do? i need the sprites blind at all costs

DarkenedFantasies -- Probably just didn't care. For example, at some point before release, they've updated the graphics of some of the Protoss buildings (Forge, CyberCore, Citadel, Observatory, Arbiter Tribunal), but instead of properly re-rendering them with edited 3D models, they did crappy copy-paste jobs on the rendered graphics.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically

Oh_Man -- so that makes me think maybe the theory they are unfinished is not true and its a deliberate design decision, coz why not finish them wen ur making brood war?

Oh_Man -- the thing is thos buildings are from classic. that means they went ahead and made brood war without ever finishing the 'unfinished' buildings
