I doubt it. Usually the simplest reasons are the correct ones. There's probably an artist or designer named Maye and dogs named Onyx and Diamond.

I found the powereade egg while i was trying for the 450 biomass achievement, I went all over the map and still couldnt find the last 5. I spotted the prisoner one too but i dont think i would have if i didnt see something similar in this thread.

Ultraviolet -- I suppose we'll likely never know, but my guess would be that they already saw it operating successfully and there was no monetary incentive to finish the original work. And the dev cycle in old school Blizzard was so hectic, it's possible it just got forgotten about after the original game got released. Plus there's an element of existing MPQ files that were packaged with the original discs becoming outdated if they updated it. And it's not like they remade the original MPQs, they just made new ones for BW specifically[2026-6-21. : 4:26 am]
